Everybody thinks that his or her grandma is the best in everyway – so what could be better than an entire day devoted to acknowledging that fact? Today, Let’s celebrate all things grandma in our lives. Kits have their own ideas on grandma.

Yay we had a dry day – no rain ! ! I actually got the washing on the line although there was little drying in the air. HRH enjoyed the weak sunshine while it lasted.
This evening Meegz KK and I are heading to the local hot thermal spring pools to soak up the warmth. Just to be smart I booked the open roof spa so we can sit in the pool up to our chins in hot water and look at the stars. Like this πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

Sometime later – Deep sigh of contentment. I’m home and warm to the core and deliciously relaxed after our hot pool soak. Winter doesn’t seem so bad tonight. πŸ™‚

    Good morning – “Geez Grandma…”
Both of my sisters are grandmothers. I’ll never be one of course. With Tyler around now we call my mother Grandmama (remember Grandmama from The Adams Family?).
Ooh those hot springs sound heavenly, MS! It’s great to soak up to your chin in the hot water and look up at the stars.
It’s a cloudy day here in Jersey, with rain on the way tomorrow.

Well, I became a grandmother at the ripe old age of 48!! πŸ˜› I love being a grandmother though and am lucky enough to see my grandchildren often. I have grand furkits too, lots of them!! I get to trim their claws when I’m around and help when needed in the kitty boo boo department.

JJ, it’s raining here today, it’s like pea soup outside…dau wanted to take Avery to the pool today, but it’s not looking promising.

MS, that hot pool sounds divine. Nothing like being warm to the bones where it hurts the most!

So I think another cup of coffee is in my near future, the paper, and some old movies. Oh, don’t forget that today starts Shark Week!! πŸ˜†

I’m not going to be a grandmother either, JJ. Never wanted kids so no regrets. I have no recall of my paternal grandmother, I was very young when she passed away. My maternal grandmother was classiness purrsonified. She had her clothes handmade and sometimes I would go to fittings with her and would get fabric pieces to make Barbie clothes. I also have some of her earrings as she had pierced ears and my Mother didn’t. I wore her white sapphires at my own wedding. Ultimately very bad family life, but there are some good memories.

Nice out today, supposed to rain tomorrow. And me planing to wear my new lime green sandals, I can always wear them inside and impress Dorry. Or not. Should be my biggest prob. 😐 My snakeskin (not real!) sandals are slated to arrive tomorrow and I plan to be home when postie comes. I hope that they like the place that I sleuthed out for them in shoe closet. πŸ˜‰

Now as finished front/back of latest sweater plan to knit up collar while watching doc on “The Real Gladiator.” Then it;s just the sleeves and the thing’s done! πŸ™‚

Another non-mother by choice, so obviously not a biological grandmother. I could only become a step-one if I happen to run into a fellow with grandkids. And no grandkittens I know of, though some grandkittens I gave away might have descendants.

A friend has become an adoptive gran in that way…

Grandparents are very important in the social development of human societies
https://www.theguardian.com/science/2011/jul/24/prehistoric-man-helped-as-elderly-survived Now way back then, “elderly” could be as young as 30, as while the lifespan of successful human groups had grown, it was still very short.

Their knowledge was key in the development of memory, which made our species “fully human”.

I only have the vaguest memories of my paternal grandparents. My parents were relatively elderly for couples in the postwar era: my mum was 42 and my dad was at least 50. My maternal grandmother died in childbirth; my youngest uncle was one of twins; the other didn’t survive. Actually the baby boom meant a wide range in ages among first-time parents: we always think of the horny young vet and his equally frisky sweetheart, but the Depression and War years kept many would-be parents from starting families. My maternal grandfather didn’t stick around. My mother lived to be 98 but my dad died the age I am now (not yet a senior). He was a chain smoker for many decades.

Finished knitting as planned sorta, but took longer than expected as some mistakes had to be fixed. The point being that anything that I make is 100% original as only once did I use the pattern’s recommended yarn. So any changes look planned. To each their own, but most of the Knitting Circle peeps only use the yarn noted and even the specific colour. And then they all have exactly the same thing, shawls mostly, so not my thing.

I want to cast on the sleeves before bed. My Wed night fab spin instructor is subbing tomorrow at 8:45. It’s usually my DIY Mon class but with her teaching, I plan to be there on “my” bike front row/centre LOL.

So off to open tomorrow’s CafΓ©.
