Welcome to Sunday

Time was that books were sold bound in heavy wooden covers of leather and stitched to a spine. These books are durable and attractive, but they are also very… very… heavy. In the 19th century another technique of improving the printing and publishing of books came about, the paperback novel.

Without literature, life is death

I saw Dunkirk today. It’s an inspiring story and I’m glad they made it into a good movie.

Great theme/pics PG!

I love a good read! The kindle thing will never work for me, my gadgets are not up to speed, but more than this I prefurr the heft of a “real” book. It’s an experience that I’m used to

I am either in a reading mood – or not! And sometimes short stories work better for me, as in now. I have 6 bks from lipurry – some are very slender paperbacks. None will go anywhere near the bath. 🙄

Ha! Leo likes to sink his teeth into a good book too! And dummies for kittens…lol.

Hope you are all having a restful weekend. My aunt and uncle took us to a matinee at the dinner theater yesterday to see Annie. It was adorable and enjoyable…always a good production there. Yesterday was also our 17th wedding anniversary. We went out the night before for a date night to celebrate.

Can’t believe how fast the summer is going by!

Good morning! I like reading books on my Kindle. Just downloaded Gwen Cooper’s “Homer: The Ninth Life of a Blind Wonder Cat”. It’s a sequel to “Homer’s Odyssey”.

We went out in the ’69 El Camino Friday as well as last night. Friday was a cruise night down the valley and last night’s cruise was across the mountains. A long but beautiful ride through woods and farms. Topped off the night with dinner on the lake in New York.

I let Baby Aslan spend the night out of his crate – he’s getting too big to spend much time in it. He was good, snuggling next to me until early this am when he was ready for playtime. Someone wants to meet him, so I’m bringing him to the shelter on Wednesday.

Purrfect summer day here – hot and sunny!

Seems like common decency has “left the bldg.” As things seem to come in 3’s , on way to gym stupid driver decided that stop signs do not apply to her! I could actually feel her stupid car pushing against me before I screamed at her and she stopped. Then at gym someone known as a “B” was talking about me (pretty sure this was the case) as last wk had a run-in with her. Seems she needs an entire bench for her c**p. And was most put out when I politely asked her to let me get to my locker. Same woman who went on and on about how us “low renters” should not set foot in the fancy health club lounge and I believe told an elderly woman that we should not be allowed to use the washroooms! Will be good when they finish fancy reno and I see the last of her. Why she consistently takes the locker next to me I’ve no clue. Think I’ll be sure to place myself elsewhere, not worth a fight. Finally, there was the Walmart line-up. I had not taken a cart and politely asked person in front of me if I could put my stuff on conveyor as it was getting heavy to hold. Long line ans she was making no move to unload her c**p as she was yammering away on her cell! We had some words and cashier ended up taking me first, B seemed to have no prob with that, which surprised me. Got some good deals and glad to be home!

Need to rest a bit as did way too much knitting as wanting to fix latest sweater and xtra yarn should arrive soon. Upper backs aches which did not help with rest of day’s minor stuff. Better than this am thank goodness. Purrhaps I should read a paperback. 😉

Finally made it to the Cafe. We had another hard frost this morning and 0C or freezing point. Brrrrrrrrrr. The day was beautifully sunny and hot when in a sheltered spot but still bitter where the light breeze could get you.
Happy Anniversary to ECB and Mr ECB.
JJ, wooooooo looked up 69 El Camino. Gorgeous chunk of classic motor vehicle.
Yikes KJ, not a good day as far as those three things go. Grrrrr to gym B, sounds like she is purposely taking the locker next to you so she can have a b—h fest.
Early evening now and time I lit the fire.
Reporting on sister KK’s cat Dara. She is at home, still congested but the swelling around her eyes is reducing and she is able to see out of one. Still getting Vicks steamings to help unblock her sinus’s.
HRH is being a food fuss, I have to hide her rabbit in her beef or is it the other way around. Whichever way it is one of those is enticing her to eat. I watched her earlier as I picked up large seed pods off the lawn to use as kindling and she had the “wind up her a–e” 😮 She was ducking and diving around in the front garden and leaping out at me from behind the car tyres. She must be feeling well to act like that.
Heading to tomorrow now.
