Much to my surprise, Miss Moppet has turned the patio into a Lei Day celebration. LilBit has his grass pants on and mets Miss Leela. TDK kits are setting up dancing and lei making contests. The food smells delish!
She’s arranged for Plant material so kits learn how to make lei using local methods: kui, hili and wili. Of course, the kittahs are romping through the plants, tasting each one. Traditional music and dance of Hawaii set the mood as the dancers perform authentic hula while, in the background the sun sets into the sea. Our kits are greeted with fresh flower lei and shown to their table. A kitchen kit brings out drinks. The first course starts with kalua pork and fresh island fish. After joining the dancers for a while, the second course is sea bean duck salad, kukupatties-Maori fishcake with mussels, salmon and scallops. The Tahitian creation chant sets the scene for your third course including steamed chicken and taro leaf in goats’ milk, marinated fish and scallop on the shell.
There is so much excitement as the Lei Day Queen will be announced shortly.
Then kittahs run and play traditional games while adults lounge on the beach or under umbrellas.
