Lol, KZ. It came through! What really stunk was, as a native Floridian living in snow shovel climates…90% of my facebook friends were Floridians. A lot of that “kiss my a*#” going on in my head while on FB in those days.

Oh AV I was thinking of your experience after it happened! I’m just so lucky I hadn’t my hand on the stove!

Hey KJ πŸ™‚ I had a conversation about that Jewish tradition with a lady I know in town .. She was on her way over to the states for her nieces oh I cant spell it ! *slaps forehead* the blessing a 13 year old girl gets.. I know how to pronounce it just not spell it.. Anyway her brother (Irish) had married a lovely Jewish woman and they had two daughters so both daughters are being raised in the Jewish faith..

    Hey Buttons,
Unless I’m mistaken the ceremony you’re mentioning is a Bat Mitzvah. Thing is that a boy has this at age 13 (Bar Mitzvah), and for a girl it’s at age 12. Without going into great detail it represents the child taking on religious duties of adulthood, I mean aside from marriage which comes way later LOL. Very nice transitioning and nice that the girls are being raised in Jewish faith. In any case as I mentioned in earlier post, if their Mom is Jewish they would also be Jewish as will be their children, religion passes on down through the Mom. Not to put too fine a point on it, but in reality there is no such concept as half-Jewish, one either is or isn’t, whether one practices the faith or not.
Some women who didn’t have “official” Bat Mitzvahs do so as adults (when I was a kid doing ceremony for a girl wasn’t common, more’s the pity.) I made one for myself some years back in a women’s only prayer group. I gave a speech based on a strongly feminist-oriented passage from Torah, then sponsored a brunch for congregation. Was a good moment for me.

Bat Mitsvah, Buttons? Went to one several years ago. It’s a learning and enlightening experience for many of us and the party after the ceremony is a blast!
Interesting triangle in the room earlier. Leela was on the bed and couldn’t leave, for Comet was on the floor next to the bed. Comet couldn’t leave because Mac was in the doorway! The lyrics to “Love Stinks” often come to mind lately. (“You love her, but she loves him, and he loves somebody else, you just can’t win!”)
Later Leela came to the other room upstairs and noticed I cleaned out a few spots. She thought it was nice of me to clear out next to that side of the couch so she could scratch it. As I was removing her claws and scolding her, she gave me a look like, “Mommy, there must be a mistake, you are yelling at me!”

Good morning all, loving the porcine pics today. I have a soft spot for pigs as we had one on the farm and he was a big softy with a delightful personality and quite friendly.

Deb, hope you get some rain soon and the winds ease off. Lightning stay away from Deb please.
Brrrrrr still chilly there KJ but you have been having lower temps so I guess it’s warming slightly.
AV, sorry about your big fish. LOL at Jojo and his hovering and he left the bowl this time.
LOL at LJG, the noisy cat gets the attention. Lovely sounding eyes Joan.
Buttons! Yikes a direct hit and things fried! That is serious stuff. I’m glad all the hoomins and goggies and cats are okay. Stay safe.
Deb, Rufus/Tin Tin is such a cutie, he’s only about 45 minutes away from my city in a beautiful country town that is very British looking with all the oaks and other trees planted throughout the town.
LOL just watched one of HRH’s suitors trot along the footpath and then cross the road into our place. I tip toed to the back door and saw him looking for her in one of her favourite spots but she wasn’t there as the lawnmower man had been around making a noise. The cat spotted me spying on him and decided discretion is the better part of valour and disappeared off through the yard now the jig was up.
Busy day with haircut and then outside work as we may be getting some rain later in the week, apparently serious amounts of it with possible flooding so have had Mr MS on the roof yesterday cleaning the guttering and I have to remove piles of magnolia leaves that don’t rot down and form a large impregnable mat on the ground and block the rain from soaking away in good time.
LOL at Leela misreading your cleaning reasons Joan. Anything we do is for them and not for us.
Oh, BTW, it’s another hot sunny day here with just a small quake(4.1) reported in the area but not felt here.
Ducks to avoid thrown shoes and “kiss my a$$” comments. πŸ˜›

    Hey Joan,
Our fingers were rapidly typing at the same time! My party wasn’t what you’d call a blast. Bagels, etc, plus a bottle of whisky passed around if memory serves. In lieu of gifts I’d asked for donations to org for helping women who can’t get their husbands to give them religious divorces (whole ‘nuther issue), but I also got some neat books.
    And tks for 80s earworm!
MS I keep sharing Listerine foot soak recipe to the amazement of all! Here’s a share from gym cohort. Haven’t tried it as yet but here goes: It’s a facial treatment:
Equal (small) amounts of cocoa and ground Turkish coffee (she says it MUST be Turkish). Add honey and mix into paste. Smooth it on face. She leaves it on for like 10-15 mins and rinses off. I’ve seen her do it in locker room. She maintains that it’s fantastic. I mentioned that I might do better for myself by eating it, also a possibility and agreeing, she graciously offered me a taste, purrhaps not.

Buttons, thank goodness that you’re all OK … and that the xbox was spared! πŸ˜‰
MS, if I didn’t like my shoes so much (and goodness knows I do have enough pairs), well they would for sure be headed your way. Indeed it was somewhat warmer today, but also very damp and chilling. And just in case we enjoyed it to much snow and blustery winds are scheduled. Getting brighter out as when I go on sortie as Tues am I no longer see the Moon. And next wknd we turn clocks ahead as Spring Forward. So many watches, so little time. *sighs*

LOL @ MS, yes, I forgot, this could include you!! (she said lovingly)
Joan, you made me smile as you described Leela, poor little darling! She reminds me of Leona when she does something that I have to scold her for…(she doesn’t get scolded very often, because you see, she is so perfect) and she gets that look that you couldn’t possibly mean ME! Like me hazeling yesterday, which actually is the “dehairing” of the floors, and our chairs where they all take turns laying on the top of…and they all act so very grateful that I finally got around to making their furniture tidier and more comfortable. Because it was no time before they were back up on it again, spreading their fur all over it again. Do you all just sweep the furniture, or put throws up where they lay so you can throw those in the washer?

KJ, thank goodness you like your shoes so much you won’t heave them at me. We all know you could heave shoes for quite some time before running out of them.
Wow that is an interesting facial treatment.
Our Daylight saving ends here on April 5th. πŸ˜₯ That means Winter will be along next.

Indeed MS, I could begin by heaving my Winter boots your way and work through the seasons to my flip-flops which in a purrfect world I will be needing before too long. BTW I plan an austerity program for near future as there are just so many things that this grrl needs and I believe that I have more than enough of everything, such as some 35+ sweaters waiting to be knit. For example I instantly delete knitting site e-mails that try to tempt me with sales – it’s a start!
Sorry that Winter is headed to Southern Hem., but also sorry that I can’t bring myself to feel too bad for anyone who hasn’t experienced ‘way below freezing temps for weeks on end. I will welcome our Summer with +35 Celsius temps and 99% humidity any day, although I can promise you that peeps will wish for Winter’s return when that weather arrives.
Would love for someone to try that sweet facial and submit full report. I’m just not up for it and as some have noted would do myself a world of good by eating the mixture. Ingredients certainly energizing as choco/coffee/honey LOL.

Yes KJ, I agree, on the peeps with the warm temps and the facial ingredients. Sounds like a wonderful facial, but if I have to go to such lengths to purchase Turkish coffee, it won’t be going ON my face, more than likely IN my mouth!
Good night all–I have a young baby girl that will be here very early in the morning and I’ll need all the sleep I can get!
