    Sorry about posting so much. ^_^;

    Lacey has been sneezing a lot and her little nose is dry. She has been playing, eating, drinking and sleeping normally. I’m hoping that it’s just a small cold or allergies. Any ideas?

    Hi Julia, sorry no ideas other than an allergy. If Lacey is still eating, sleeping,playing and drinking normally then I’d just keep an eye on her. There is no limit for posting for help and advice here. 🙂

    We’re only too happy to help where we can.

    Aww thank you, Moonshadow! I’m trying to figure out the best time I can take her to the vet since I have such a weird sleep schedule 😛

    Julia, is Lacey congested, too? Is she coughing at all? Closing up one eye? She could have an upper respiratory infection. It’s very common in cats, especially is she just came from a litter and they all passed it to each other. It’s easy to treat…the vet can tell you for certain if she has a kitty cold or not.

    Nope she isn’t coughing or closing up one eye. How can I tell if she’s congested?

    When she breathes, do you hear a rattling sound (mucus)? Is she breathing through her mouth at all?

    A little bit. I can only listen when she’s sleeping cause when she’s awake, she’s constantly purring. She is not breathing through her mouth at all. I’m guessing it will look like her mouth is slightly open if she is.

    She may have an upper respiratory infection…will you be taking her to the vet in the next few days?

    I’m hoping to. Maybe tomorrow. Will the vet be able to clear it up?

    Oh, yeah…no problem at all! Do you have any other cats? If she has a cold, she is contagious to other cats right now…

    My roommate does but they’re never around.

    How much do you think it will cost for me to get her checked out?

    What is she going in for? Is this just her first checkup? If she has an upper respiratory infection she will be treated with antibiotics. There will be the office visit fee, which is usually around 40-60 dollars and if she has a cold, the antibiotics will be 10-20 dollars.

    Is she going in for a round of immunizations? I am not sure how old your kitten is.

    She’s young. About 10-12 weeks. I’m only taking her in for the checkup to see if she is sick or not. I can’t afford a full round of vaccinations. This will be her first checkup.
