Lola has had diarhea for the past 2 – 3 days, and today she stopped eating and has been vomiting up spit like bile and stuff that looks and smells like feces.
I fed her wet food an hour ago and she had a few nibbles then she went straight to my bed and puked/pooped it out. I’m not sure if its poop or vomit but it was very liquidy and slimy and light brown with chunks of the food in it and smelled foul. She’s still slightly active but she keeps lying down. I called a few emergency vets and none of them do payment plans without a $285 payment up front for the exam. One vet suggested we put corn syrup on her gums every hour, so I went out and got some. It’s almost midnight here and no other vets are open. I’m terrified and beyond worried right now. 🙁
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind that its late and nothing is open.

I am so sorry Cheyanne, I wish I could help you. This is beyond my expertise. She really needs to see a vet and probably have some bloodwork done. A cat that is acting like Lola clearly does not feel well. Most cats try and hide illness, but at this point she just can’t. The corn syrup is to keep her from crashing since she is not keeping anything in due to diarrhea and vomiting. You could try pedialyte (the kind that you can give adult humans or babies) by dropper or syringe to help keep her electroytes up until a vet opens tomorrow. Good luck, please keep us updated!

I don’t have any pedialyte, and im not even sure where i’d get it. I don’t have a syringe either 🙁 The corn syrup has salt and sugar, so i’m hoping that does the trick. I’m praying that i can find a clinic that will allow a payment plan without an expensive up front payment. 🙁
Lola is currently playing with her tail, and she seems a little more perky after giving her the corn syrup.

I’m so sorry cheyanne …. As the vomiting has increased it really is a vet visit situation now …. Keep ringing around … .. If she did swallow anything from rubbish it could be causing an obstruction.. Sending healing vibes her way..

I’ve read online that an obstruction would cause her to be lethargic, but she’s the complete opposite. She slept on my feet all night and is now awake and running around and playing like usual. She drank a bit of water today, but still no interest in food. Going to keep trying the corn syrup, hopefully I can find a vet today. This sucks 🙁

That is true cheyanne .. But there are exceptions to that also.. My Buttons also had an obstruction and still had a high energy level what was worse for us though is that he didn’t even vomit with his obstruction and was continuing to eat which was very unusual ..

Just keep a close eye incase anything changes hopefully this is all just down to ” trash gut” which means she just ate something that was gone off in the trash ..

You can find pedialyte at Walmart in the baby section or juice aisle I believe. Hopefully, you can get her into a vet somewhere today. Sending healing prayers to her….

I hope trash gut is the case. My boyfriend and I are going away for the weekend and i’m terrified to leave Lola home alone. His mom lives upstairs and is going to be checking on her often but I feel so bad. She tried to eat again today and then threw up stomach fluids. No fecal smelling brown stuff, just clear liquid this time. she’s been drinking and is still acting normal. No poops though, probably because she isn’t eating.
I’m going to continue to put the corn syrup on her gums to keep her sugar levels up.
I’m also going to stop feeding her for a few hours. I might be able to get her in to the vet later today but i dont know what it will cost and i’m not sure i’ll be able to afford it.
I’ll also try to find some pedialyte. Thank you for the advice everyone, Lola and I appreciate it very much.

I’d add a little veg oil to her food when you do feed her next or give her some veg oil ( 5 mls) in a syringe now if you can the no-pooping could be because of an obstruction.. The veg oil could help move things along and help her expel what is causing the possible obstruction

Yes a small ammount .. I do think she’ll need 24 hour supervision over the next few days though..

Took Lola to the vet today, vet said she had gas and was slightly dehydrated but otherwise seemed fine. He assumed she wasn’t in any pain, and said Lola probably ate something her tummy isn’t agreeing with. He gave me metrondizole for after she eats and famotidine for before she eats. He also gave her a few shots of fluid for her dehydration.
I gave her the medicine, she FINALLY ate, and didn’t puke or poop it out right away.
I gave her the famotidine after as well.
Now, she seems a little tired and isn’t as energetic as before. Shes just sort of sitting around, kind of hunched over. She is walking normal and not falling over or anything but she doesn’t seem to be acting like herself. 🙁
Could the medicine or shot the vet gave her be causing this?

A quick call to the vet might allay your concerns normal behaviour or what is to be expected after these meds. Better than worrying.
