    Hi Everybody,

Today reminds us of herbs in home-cooked dishes in place of salt. It doesnโ€™t take much room or effort to grow a variety of fresh herbs-a little rosemary, thyme, mint or other herbs can do just as much to enrich a dish as a heavy dose of salt. At the end of August we begin harvesting and preserving garden herbs.

And this is the last weekend of August bringing it to a close –

Speaking of ‘herbs’ – we went out this evening for dinner and on our return the smell of a particular ‘herb’ in the air when we got out of the car was enough to knock you down. Then we heard the giggling from a house nearby. Someone is having a wild herbal evening.

    Goodnight all

Catch you on the flip side.

Happy Caturday all! I grow herbs in a small garden by the kitchen walkway. My cat Maxwell is always sleeping in the oregano…it has gotten quite large and is blooming and the little bees just love the flowers. I’ll bet herbal honey is awesome! MS, you made me laugh about the smell of a particular herb in the air! Our state has the issue on the ballot this November on whether to legalize this particular herb–both sides are working themselves into a frenzy over the issue. Hopefully people can see through the sensationalism on both sides to make an informed decision. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
    LOVE the pics too!
AV, hope you don’t get all the rain they predicted yesterday–didn’t see the track of Erika for today. Stay safe.
Hi Joan *waving* hope you are enjoying the wonderful weather we had for nearly the whole week. Much warmer today and humid as next week is supposed to be very hot and humid also.
Hazeling today and a day alone!!!! I know it may sound weird, but I definitely don’t get enough alone time to recharge my batteries. I like to talk to my cats without interruption and just to not *think*. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Caterday PG ans MS! Great theme and pics, I love fresh herbs and use them all the time! Lol at you neighbors doing ‘people nip’ hehehe

I’m tasked with making a gluten free dessert for SIL’s bday tonite at family dinner …. We’ll see how that goes …

Mr. AV left early for golf this morning, and I see two empty cans in the sink …. That usually means Sal was here for breakfast, but two cans means he hung around for seconds (they usually split a can ) ….. Abby must have had a good morning!

Dau and I slept in this morning …. Looking forward to spending the day with her! Have a happy caterday all!

Have a nice time with your daughter, AV.

Joan, give beastie bands a look. They’re the only ones Leo can’t escape from (took trying five brands). They’re lightweight and comfy and cute and inexpensive. Shipping isn’t much since they’re lightweight. They do look tattered after a year or two, but by then you want to pick out another fun pattern anyways.

I have to get the cats’ collars back on. The vet took them off for surgeries. I can’t hear what they’re up to without the jingle of their tags.

EC, I’m like you, I can’t keep track of Miss Abby if I can’t hear the jingle of her collar!! She’s stealth kitty!

Joan, enjoy that wonderful weather …. We’re battening down the hatches here!

    Hey guys ๐Ÿ™‚

Lol at MS and the “special” herbs ๐Ÿ™‚ I always have a little giggle when I smell that smell where it shouldn’t be ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck with that desert AV but knowing your cooking skills I’m sure it will be a big hit….

Hope everyone’s weekend is going well!!! And I have some good news! Scarface has reappeared!!! I’ll be honest I was in shock ! I ran to the shed and got the trap age so say a little prayer everyone that I catch him tonight!!!

Hi everyone – thanks for the collars suggestions. The ones I got were supermarket ones I thought I could get away with since they’re inside kitties.
Sorry about your sunburn, MS. I have fair skin and burn easily too, and my fine hair has thinned over the years, so I have to wear a hat when out in the sun to avoid a burnt head, ouch!
I didn’t get herbs going this summer, but at least am getting a few strawberries and cherry tomatoes. Oh and my sunflowers are opening up, yay!
There’s a video around fb of 3 grandmas trying a particular herb for the first time – in Washington state, where it’s legal. At the end of the video one of them says something like, ‘I would try it again…if I can get this bag of chips open!’. Don’t know if it will be on our ballet anytime soon, as our governor/president wannabe is vehemently against it.
So last I saw, erika (you’ll never hear me refer to a named storm as ‘he’ or ‘she’ or put the name in caps unless auto correct does it), might not pack super winds, but it looks to dump a lot of rain on Florida. AV doesn’t need any more rain, but we could use some here, as does Deb. Stay safe, AV!
Just got back from a girls weekend with bff. A room was booked at a hotel about a half hour north of here for a car show…except the show is next week. 3rd party bookings are non-refundable, so friend and I went for a change of scenery. Nice room with a small deck overlooking the courtyard where we were entertained by lots of ducks! I asked about them at the desk when leaving and she said they just showed up a few years ago and come back every year and have babies. The courtyard is a nice park-like setting, perfect for them, and from what I saw, they are well fed by the guests. Saw a little boy come out with food and those ducks waddled as fast as they could to him, it was adorable! Of course, the trio missed me. I drove home yesterday long enough to scoop litterboxes, refresh water and crunchies bowls, and give them some food. Today when I came home, Comet velcroed himself to me for quite a while till he was satisfied I wasn’t taking off again!
It is another beautiful day here in Jersey – the heat and humidity are forecasted to creep up tomorrow and a heat wave is possible next week. I’ll still take that over sub-zero temps and snow/ice.

Buttons…. that’s AWESOME that Scarface is still alive!!!! I thought for sure that was the end of him… ๐Ÿ™ Prayers that you can catch him. Bless your heart! Maybe it was some kind of wild animal that was shot. SO happy he’s ok. YAY!!!!
Joan, I’m glad you had a nice weekend out with BFF. The ducks sound just adorable!
AV, what did you decide on for the dessert? SO nice that Dau is home with you for awhile…… ๐Ÿ™‚
Waving hello to anyone else out there…..

Good morning, it’s Sunday here and we have had a sleep in and late breakfast/brunch. The day is cycling between drizzle and weak sunshine and HRH is sitting outside willing the sun to stay out.
Re the special ‘herbs’ from last night, they are not legal here either and for the amount we could smell someone was really risking it.
KZ I hope you had plenty of time to just ‘talk to the cats’ and be yourself today.
Wow ECB, those Beastie bands come in a huge range of colours and designs.
My burned face was from sunscreen, the sun isn’t reaching temps above 15C at the moment. I react badly to some ingredients in sunscreens and shampoos. Sucks monkey-toes.
AV, had to giggle at the two empty cans in the sink, I bet Abby can a contented smile too. Hope the tropical storm doesn’t dump too much rain on you and the other TDKers in FL.
Buttons so good to hear that Scarface is back and fingers crossed that you can trap him.
Joan nice weekend away with BFF and it’s good for the kits to learn that you aren’t always going to be at their beck and call. The ducks sound like a great attraction.
HRH has won and the sun is now out so maybe I will head out to the garden for a bit.

Living in Colorado where weed is legal, well, I can neither confirm nor deny partaking…mmm, cheetos. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yea, paws crossed that you trap Scarface, Buttons.

Ooh, that does indeed suck monkey toes about the sunscreen, MS.
*2 ‘adult’ tabby kitties scamper through the wormhole with Cheetos for PG* Hey, if it’s legal, to each his own.
Checked the beastie bands site – wow, that’s some selection! Drs. F&S have a good array as well. Figure something girly but chic for Leela, something either dorky or Amish-inspired for Comet, and something streetwise or hippie-like for Mac.
    Beautiful full moon here.

Joan, tonight is supposed to be a *super moon* night, and I actually went outside to see it and it was cloudy and sprinkling rain! So, no big moon for me tonight.
MS, that’s awful about the sunscreen. I’ll bet where you live the sun is especially intense. ๐Ÿ™
Pass the cheetos PG—don’t wipe your fingers on your shirt though… ๐Ÿ˜‰
Buttons, I meant to mention how relieved I was about Scarface! It’s like our cat Bambi reappearing from the dead some years back! It’s such an awesome feeling!
    Hi BB and AV!

My nephew has allergies to sunscreens as well, MS. He finally got a prescription for a sunscreen. It’s working well for him.

    Thanks for the cheetoes, Joan.

We’ve had a lot of smoke from the various wildfires in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. The full moon last night was orange from the smoke.

Catching up, late night after much-needed sleep.
PG, the “herb” is legal-legal, like you can just go into place and buy some??? Not that I’d ever consider it, well, hmmm … anyway not a pawsibility here, although one of the candidates in upcoming election has legalization on his slate. However based on his other views nothing could get me to vote for him.
MS, allergies to sunscreens – that’s tough, seeing as the sun also does damage. I think I’ve also heard of prescription sunscreen. For me, being very fair-skinned, with almost black hair though, sunscreen is a staple ‘year-round. And on this antibiotic, esp sun sensitive for now.
Don’t get it when peeps tell someone just back from vaca be it in the tropics or backyard and toasted to a crisp how “healthy” they look. Srsly?
Sounds like GR8 time, Joan. Same type of weather here as due to get mega heat wave for most of week, with usual heat/humidity warnings and all. Yup, better than Winter.
