….. well the Kitties are getting a late start to the Cafe this morning! …… most got up early to run the early 5K Gasparilla run in Tampa, and they are just now piling back through the wormhole …….. the older ones are exhausted, and quickly grab a comfy cushion by the fire! ….. it was a wet drizzley morning to start the marathon weekend off, so they jockey for position to dry out and fluff their fur …..

….. AV is making hot cocoa and buttermilk pancakes for all ….. any topping you desire is at hand! ….. welcome to the weekend!

Hi AV!!! I’d LOVE some cocoa and buttermilk pancakes!!! Mmmmmm……. That will really hit the spot!
Watching Trisha Yearwood. She’s making her chicken soup, meatloaf and sour cream coffee cake! Looks really yummy!!!! She is spending a rainy day with her dear friend, so they are baking/eating together!!
Sun is shining, blue sky, Ah.. just lovely!!!

good ‘mid-morning’ to ya, BB! …… *pushes* a large stack of pancakes and mug of cocoa through the wormhole ……

…… I love Trisha Y, she’s actually quite a good cook …. of all the rainey days (and there aren’t that many this time of year here) …. I feel bad for the Gasparilla runners! ….. wet, wet, wet!! …. only redeeming factor is that the temps are in the mid 70s, so it’s bearable ……. cold on top would be miserable!

wow! brave fellow! …… but at the end of the day, I guess lions are just ‘big’ kitties! LOL

…. Deb, did you ever shake ‘the crud’? ….. it took Mr. AV like a month to totally get rid of it!

Yarrr, kitty mates! Hey, are there any pancakes left? I would love some for lunch!
That big Maine Coon agency kitty did the run this morning. He wanted to prove to himself, and I believe to me as well, that he could do it. I’ve been spending time with him here in the lounge, giving him some treats, praise, and belly rubs in the sun.

It’s a beautiful day around here, relatively speaking. One can go outside without swearing! I can see things in my backyard that have been buried, and a few of my rainbow colored spinny lawn decs are spinning! My hammock suffered some damage, though, as a result of my not putting it away before the weather moved in. This morning I only sank about halfway up my calfs to get to the birdfeeder.
Hubby is fixing to grill a steak too. He has to do some shoveling to get to it, but it’s in view and the sun and mild temps are making for some quickly melting snow.

Deb, that video was amazing! It is truly a scary thought that if we are not careful, there may be no lions in Africa in 20 years.

I’ve given Leela a shove, telling her she needs to get out of the house, and she has donned her wench outfit and Comet, wearing his eye patch and hat and weilding a (plastic) sword, are coming thru the wormhole. Whoosh! Thud. THUD!

    Easy Chicken and Dumplings
    Adapted from Southern Plate

    1 Rotisserie Chicken
    32 oz. Chicken Broth
1 10 oz. can Cream of Chicken Soup
    1 can layer biscuits
    1 cup flour
    Salt
    Pepper

Directions: Shred the meat off the rotisserie chicken. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add the cream of chicken soup and the chicken pieces. Mix well. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Take the biscuits and split them lengthwise, so you have two thinner biscuit rounds for each biscuit. Dip them in a plate of flour and cut them into quarters. Place them onto the top of the soup. Gently poke the dumplings down, randomly, while cooking for about 10 minutes. Be careful of stirring because it can break the dumplings apart. Once the dumplings are cooked, you’re done! Optional: add carrots, peas, a bay leaf, or whatever you like in your soup!

Hi Deb – that looks delicious, and so easy! Very similar to mom’s except she made bisquick drop biscuits.

I know what you mean Joan! I can see at least 1/2 of my buried garbage can now! Wow, the wind is really whipping around here. My poor wind chimes! The sun is just wonderful though! Cats have been enjoying it all day! I have stood in it myself, for a few minutes to soak up the warmth and happy vibes! 🙂 Besides it gives us FREE HEAT!!! 🙂
I had fried potatoes, eggs, applesauce, and afterwards, hot licorice tea. Mmmm so good!

I put Comet on his harness and set him down in the snow. He was quite wide-eyed, but didn’t like his feet sinking when he tried to take a step. Eventually he pawed at my leg and anxiously clammored up to me when I lifted him up.

    Ahoy maties,

So it’s back to looting, pillaging and … running is it? Tks for hosting us yet again AV – 3 time’s the charm? And for the fun theme Joan! Dorry’s ready for action, soon as he can find the right footwear, that is! He won’t wear this purrfectly good brand, he feels that only “Puma’s” will give him the winning edge. *sighs*

In any case everyone has seemed to run out for the moment so L8R or tomorrow! Weather relatively decent here ’til next wk when we’re sucked into the polar vortex yet again. *sighs again*

Oooh Deb, I must bookmark this thread, that second recipe looks awesome too! And as you know, I don’t have a working oven, so I’m all about stovetop & crockpot recipes!

Hi there KJ! *waving* You can credit Comet for the theme – he saw AV’s post and seems to associate her with pirates! And I associate AV with lovely Florida weather, even if it’s drizzly! Wondering if the Daytona 500 will run tomorrow, there’s talk of a stalled front.

    Hi Joan and PC *waves*

Paws up from Dorry to creative fellow boy-kit Comet!

Now that Olympics are almost over (except for hockey game where our Canadians will undoubtedly trounce the Swedish team, just as our women’s hockey team won gold yes!, and no haven’t watched games at all, nor do I intend to be in some bar watching game tomorrow at 7 am LOL) here’s some better news re the poor Sochi strays. A drop in the bucket, but everything has to start somewhere.

Arrrrr Hi Littermates. A bit late into the Cafe for all the fun and running.
It’s been a hot but very windy Sunday and we spent it recycling all the bottles etc from Christmas/New Year. Now the garage looks so much bigger.
The last of my 9 caterpillars has finally become a chrysalis and I have another 5 caterpillars munching away at the swan plant.
