My betta died. He was okay yesterday. I got to work and his water was murky and he was dead.

This seems to happen when I am going through something hard. Emotional canaries I suppose. My last betta died when I had 5 family members die in about a month. I don’t know if I inadvertently neglect them or overfeed them or if it’s somehow related to the emotional strain. But there is some kind of connection.

No more aqua meezer. It will be a while before I get another one.

I’m sorry MeezerMama. I know people think ‘it’s just a fish,’ but those guys have a lot of personality believe it or not (well of course you believe it, you had Sid). I was pretty bummed when Jackie Chan (my betta) died too. I haven’t gotten another one, and I probably never will.

Awwww, sorry about your Beta, MeezerMama. I’m on my fourth beta at the moment, they never seem to last long. My first one jumped out of the bowl. Second one and third one died just like your Sid, and now I have had the fourth one for maybe about 10 months. The Bobster would be very upset if we lost his beta friend!

    Rip, Sid!

He was a good fish and got his burial at sea this morning.

🙁 so sorry MM… not what you needed.

Thank you all. Honestly, with everything else, losing Sid is just one more thing. I can’t say that I’m not sad about it, but it’s just such a small thing.

So sorry Meezermama. I know what it is like to lose a pet fish. I had two Black Moor’s for 5 yrs, both had different personalities and were so graceful to watch. On occassion, I used to have to perform a type of resusitation on them. They would swallow the gravel in the tank and couldn’t breathe. I know that sounds odd when you think about it.

sometimes its the small things in life that send us over the edge. So sorry. I remember when I had my tank- I swear that my cat Abigal and the algae eater where best friend and played hide and seek. It was a blast to watch-a lot better than TV

Renee, it doesn’t sound odd. I’ve had Koi go to the fish hospital. I know how to resuscitate them too.

Glory, my one remaining koi, likes to play with Ferrule. She teases him relentlessly. I think it’s a game to him too.

What’s a koi? Bob (who loves his beta-friend) is intrigued!

Great Dane, have you ever heard of a koi pond? I believe they are those BIG looking goldfish, a type of carp. I may be wrong.

Oh, well I don’t think I can get the Bob one of those! I would have to get a pond first!

So sorry to hear it. Beta fish are so personable, no wonder you’re feeling blue. You didn’t need any more stress! *hugs*

So sorry MM, I think betas are so pretty, and it is a loss. You have to grieve it, just like any other.

And I love koi. Are yours indoors? My wish has been to have a koi pond outside. We certainly have the room for one (2 acres).

    Hugs and purrs to you.
