My 3 month old kitten has a bald scaly patch with several surrounding tiny scabs on her chin. She is VERY lethargic, only playing half-heartedly for 20-30 mins then sleeping for 3-7 hours. She has a small amount of eye discharge as well. Is this ringworm and is there something I can do at home for her?

Hi Sharkbutter. It does sound like ringworm on her skin but I’m worried about her eye discharge and lethargy. I think the latter needs to be addressed at a vet and he/she can advise you on what to use for ringworm. I’m sure others will advise also. Good luck w/ your kitty.

    Sharkbutter??? Interesting name.

I agree with Shakira. Take her to the vet. Ringworm is passed to to other cats and humans, too – and it doesn’t take much.

If you have a way to isolate her until the vet check, do so, or you will have ringworm spores all over the place.

    Hi Sharkbutter (cool name!) –

I contracted ringworm from my Smokie when I first got her. Got immediate attention for her and the vet said, though not officially, that I could use the topical stuff on me too, since it was caught early. Cleared both of us up in no time.

I’d definitely get her to the vet. It may just be ringworm, or it could be ringworm and something else, too, or it may be something else entirely. Not really sufficient information to go on. If it’s ringworm, the vet will have appropriate products for treating it.
