I wanted to remind everyone that our discussion on Dewey will start on April 1.

I finished reading it yesterday (used a box of tissues) and thought I would do some research on him. Here are some links that I thought you might enjoy. Even if we never met Dewey this is an up close and personal look into the life of a very special cat! But, then again, I have never met a cat that wasn’t special!

    Have you?

Here Dewey is featured on the CBS Sunday Morning show:

Here Dewey’s book is featured in USA Today:

Here is the link to Dewey’s website. It has lots of video clips of him on television and even the Japanese clip…lol! Also, candid pictures of Dewey!

Here is a bio of Dewey posted on the Spencer Public Library website. Check out the link that goes to his Facebook page. There is talk of a movie!!!!

Here is also a link to the article about the movie:

Pictures of Dewey at work. Most of the pictures will remind you of something you have read about in the book.

Here is the link to the Sioux City Journal about Dewey when he passed away.

I hope all of you got a chance to read about Dewey. It is a book that no cat lover could resist. I think if they gave it a chance Dewey’s book could convert anyone into a cat person!

Hope you enjoy the links and remember April 1st will be our first official TDK Book Club discussion. Happy reading to all!

Thank you for all of those links, ILMC.

I didn’t just cry – it progressed to pure slobber and blubbering……

What time will our discussion begin? How do you see that working? I want to be sure that I’m logged on when the discussion begins!

*honks into yet another kleenex just thinking about Dewey*

I loved this book! (oops, save that comment for April 1!) The day I finished reading it, M-I-L came over with a copy. I passed it on to a fellow TDKr…

WWM…This is what I had planned. On Wednesday morning (around 7) I was planning on starting a thread on the discussion. Going on the lines of the guide that KW posted on the other thread and using a couple of more that I have found. Maybe starting out with a couple of questions and giving people time to respond. Also, if someone else has a question they would like to add to the discussion they can. A little later add another couple of questions and so on. Around 10:00, I will have to leave to go to work but will be back online at 11:00. Does this sound all right with everyone?

Then after that just see where it goes from there!

OMG I haven’t even read the book and I am blubbering like a baby! Well, maybe like a big fat lumberjack! *where’s more tissue*

7am is ok with me, but I do think we need to allow quite a length of time, since many people are not only on different time zones, but also have to work around work schedules, home life, etc……. But you are a peach for being willing to start things so early, that way it will be fun to see the comments through out the day (and into the night!) as people post.

Yeah, you know – it would be almost impossible to get all of us on at one time. Actually, forget the “almost”!

I know it is early but if I don’t start it then it would be after 11:00 a.m. since I have to do all my chores….making sure all the animals are taken care of and be at work by 11:00. By starting it that early it will probably take a while for people to start posting but at least it would give everyone a chance to give their responses to the questions. The only other option would be to let someone else start the thread at a later hour.

No, no, ILMC. We want you to be our leader! Besides, it most likely will be a thread that will just run all day. And, as AV says, probably all night, too!

Yes, ILMC! I’m thrilled to death that you are willing to start it so early!!! Thank you!!!!! It will be such a fun thread as it progressess throughout the day, and also, will probably last quite a few days until we get through all the questions.!!! Make a good thing last!!!! Which brings to mind – you may want to start a new thread for each question, since some people may skip a day or want to come back to a certain topic. What do you think?

That would be 8:00 a.m. for me. 🙂

I watched the CBS special and my eyes swelled up with tears. Back in November when I read Dewey and I cried a lot.

ILMC…Thank You for the links. I’m reading the book now & so many of the links are just as I’ve read. I can’t wait to complete it…even if I am crying like a baby from those links.
