My kitten is 2 weeks old. His butt is red and swollen looks maybe a little bit raw.I called the vet and they said to definitely bring him in and dilute the formula a little bit. I hope its just constipation and bothing really serious. I don’t have the money to the vet until I get paid Friday. Until then I would like to do something to make him more comfortable and help to maybe make it go away. What can I do for him? Has anyone else been through this? Please help me! This is my first time caring for such small kittens. They are absolutley my world. His sister is doing great. But I just can’t lose him. They are my babies now.

I understand your concerns about money, Jessica, but I think she is very constipated and needs an enema. This is something you SHOULD NOT do at home. Ask the vet. if they will work out a payment plan.

I have an appt with the vet Friday. That was the earliest appt I could get. Just until then I want to help him. He pooped a little bit. I just sont want him in pain. It’s not the money problem. It’s just I don’t get paid until Friday.

Have you tried the triangle method? This is one way to help a kit poop and it may make the difference.

Go slowly as he has hard poop.

No I haven’t tried that. I’m so scared to irratate it and make ot more swollen or raw. He pooped as much as what he normally would. So maybe he just needs to get a little more out. If I have to I will do that.

In between when you are stimulating him to poop, try putting some Desitin or Aquafor, Vaseline, some kind of moisture barrier so his skin can heal. If he is in pain, then he won’t relax enough to poop.

I took him to the vet and the vet said it looked liked maybe an abscess where he could have scraped it on something and it got infected. In the middle of the night it had popped and it had puss coming out. She said to keep it as clean as possible and if it gotten any worse she would prescribe an antibiotic but she didn’t think it was necessary right now. I’m just so glad he is okay and it’s nothing major. Thank you guys for all the advice!! This is my go to place for advice. 🙂

That’s great Jessica. I’m glad the Vet. was able to give you information and that the abscess is open. I’m sure he’s so happy!
