I was lying in bed this morning wishing I had another kitten (as six cats were milling around me waiting for their canned food!) I was thinking of good names to name a new kitten (that my husband will never let me get—I wish he couldn’t count) and it came to me that I always wanted a female cat named ELSA and an orange male named OPIE.

    So, my question is…

Is there a name that you’ve always wanted to name a new cat/kitten but never have?

I’ve never had an orangie, but if I did have an orange male he would certainly be Hobbes. (My favorite cartoon of all time)

If I had a Orangie girl I’d name her Ginger.

I met a cat over the weekend with what I think is wonderful name for either a boy or girl – Miskers. In this kitty’s case it was short for Mr. Whiskers, but it could be short for Ms. Whiskers too. I love it, next kitty gets that name!

Oliver as in Oliver Twist! When I moved to Kentucky, there was a hot, hungry, scared little brown tabby boy who launched himself at me and frantically meowed for help, I fed him and watered him and then went and met my new neighbors to find out whose cat he was. Turns out the neighbors were out of town and the son was supposed to be watching the house and kitten. My husband and I kept him fed, watered and safe until his parents came home. As soon as he heard the car in the drive, he took off for home and has never been seen outdoors since. I named him Oliver because he asked for “more please” after the first bowls of food and water. Next rescue boy I get will be Oliver in honor of that sweet little brown tabby.

I used to call RT my “pumpernickle cat” because, well, she was quite round. When she laid in the “loaf” position, she looked like a pumpernickle!

An orangie stray appeared Friday night and I just HAD to give it some food. Needless to say, I’ve been calling him Cheeto ever since.

I worked with a woman who named her son’s cat “Chaos”–I laughed for 10 minutes! Perfect!

I’ve always liked the name Jinx, Joan. But I’ve never had a cat named that. It was almost Huddy’s name though. I did a poll on another group I belong to.

    Hudson

    Koontz

    Jinx

Those were the names, and Hudson won out.

I have met two cats whose names were Kissa. (It means ‘Cat’ in Finnish). I don’t know whether that is lame or brilliant.
