May I please ask that everyone here spare a moment to pray and send healing energies to the cats rescued from Petknode, a cat boarding hotel in KL, Malaysia. These cats were left without food or water for 9 days at least, in stacked cages in a tiny premise. 16 cats died during the ordeal including two nursing momma cats and their kittens. There were several kitten carcass found on the floor which were already rotting. A lot of the cats are undergoing intensive treatment due to starvation, dehydration and stress. Many are hanging on to their life by a thread. They could do with a little prayer and positive thoughts.

Rescuers who broke into the premise to liberate the cats found them in such deplorable conditions, many broke down and some even passed out from the horror they were witnessing. The cats were soaked in their own urine and poo. Most were just skin and bones, dying or very sickly. a lot of them had ripped their fur off their torsos due to the stress. 3 adult cats were found stuffed in a medium pet carrier, some were found roaming outside and yet others were caged n left outside the locked shop. Animal rights activists in Malaysia are working round the clock to ensure that this incident doesn’t go unpunished and are pushing for sweeping reforms in our legislation with regards to animal welfare. This is a news excerpt detailing the incident:

And if you can please take a moment to sign this petition urging the Malaysian government to enact stricter laws to punish animal abusers, jointly organized by SPCA and other animal welfare NGOs in Malaysia. Even if you’re not Malaysian, please sign. Your voice will only make ours stronger. The petition can be found here:

Currently the fine only amounts to a maximum of RM200 (~USD66); a paltry sum…most college students spend more than that on a night out with friends.

And the fact that the owners of the facility want to sue the pet owners for “trespassing” when they broke in to try to rescue their pets is just sickening beyond belief.

It shows how low-life those people are to try & take the heat off themselves by throwing in a scare tactic like trespassing. Just reading the story made me almost up my cookies. May those hotel owners rot in h**l!!

    Oh…I also signed the petition.
