Ruby is out of surgery to have the feeding tube put in. He will recover overnight at the vet. I’m picking him up first thing tomorrow. Thank you all for the continued prayers.

It sounds like your little guy has Feline Hepatic Lipidosis,(fatty liver syndrome). If that is the case, catching it early and treating it agressively (feeding tube) has a very high survival rate. Ruby is lucky to have you. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for him.

Ruby is home with a pharmacy of meds! Cheetaboysmommy, it is fatty liver.. Poor baby. Please continue the prayers for him.

My prayers for Ruby to heal and return to complete health and for Caroline to find peace in the midst of such an unfortunate turn of events. May all return to normal and Ruby have a healthy and happy life with Caroline.

Ruby, you may be 11, but I doubt you feel like a senior citizen yet. I know you’re not feeling too well now, but you know you have the strength to get better and be an amazing big furry lovable boy for your wonderful mom who gave you a second chance 🙂 you have to do that for her 🙂 hugs

Poor Ruby. I’m sure he feels lousy since his liver is not doing its job. May you have the strength to continue doing what he needs. As CBM said, it may take weeks-months, but with long-term tube feeding the survival rate is high. http://www.vet.cornell.edu/FHC/healthinfo/HepaticLipidosis.cfm

Thanks for the link Kipling. He is trying to move around but is weak. Poor baby.

He will get his next feeding now before I go to work. I will be worried about him till I get home..Hang in there Ruby.. He’s a big boy and I call him my Chunk Monkey.

Oh Caroline, I’m so sorry. {{{HUGS}}} At least he had all your love and care before he went. I hope that’s a comfort to you as I know it was a huge, huge comfort to him, to be so loved at the end. Godspeed, Ruby boy.
