We’ve had a bit of a fright today with Ms Moneypenny .. I came home to find her eye badly swollen…

Rushed her to emergency vets thinkin she scratched her eye… Bad news is it wasn’t a scratch it’s another ulcer and we haven’t a clue how it’s developed so fast or what caused it ..

It might be a genetic disorder … We may always have to deal with this … And we don’t even know if the ulcer will respond to treatment as it formed so fast and the ulcer that took her right eye didn’t respond to treatment or surgery … I have to bring we back first thing Monday morning to see if there is any improvement .. Prayers we caught it early enough.. I’ve never seen an ulcer develop over just 5 hours 🙁

She’s still no better this morning 🙁 she’s in a good mood and playing but the eye still looks bad .. Hoping by tomorrow it will have improved

It’s not lookin good 🙁 the ulcer has gotten bigger in the last 48 hours… It’s definitely not an ulcer formed by any scratch or irritation but more than likely Ms Moneypenny suffers from Dry Eye and that combined with a nasty strain of herpes virus has lead to this. I did tell that vet since I’ve had her I’ve given her tears natural twice a day so the fact that this has happened even with the drops and L-lysine (1000mg daily) means that the antibiotic and anti inflamatory don’t and won’t so anything to improve it.. Only option was an emergency graft operation . Same one he preformed to save the right eye. If after ten days the ulcer is still there he will remove the eye and if it does heal and this ever happens again the eye will be removed. I’m praying now this dry eye condition won’t hinder the healing as her eye is going to be sewn shut ten days and it’s the longest she’s ever gone without the eye drops. Her eye could dry out completely 🙁

But I’m praying for the best.. Had to bring Messi the Chinchilla in too.. Her chin is wet again was surprised when vet said teeth are looking really good and then he broke the news to me.. It’s more likely she’s going into renal failure 🙁 I have to inject her with meds for the next 3 days and if she doesn’t dramatically improve she’ll have to be put to sleep 🙁

This is not a good week so far

Thank you guys … Just barely holding it together… But there’s nothing I can do now.. I dropped off Moneypenny’s toy and my jumpers so when she wakes from surgery this evening she can have a familiar smell.. I can imagine one minute seeing and then when you wake … Nothing just dark … She’ll have her eye sewn shut for at least ten days …

I do KZ … It’s just such a shock to the system.. I’m gonna have to watch her like a hawk tomorrow!! One bang on that eye and it could be a disaster!

{{{Buttons}}} Somehow it is going to be ok. Buttons knew you were the best for Noodle, and then Ms. Moneypenny. Your home is like no other. Plus you have the added force that is TDK. Sending lots of white light and hopes that the eye can be saved. Calming vibes for Messi too – for whatever may be ahead. And soothing vibes and hugs to you; the animals’ caregiver is their whole world.
