Hello, part of the reason I was absent from this forum for so long was that the sad stories always broke my heart. However, now I have some sadness and could use some good wishes for my boy.

I posted recently about some weight loss, but otherwise Goo was fine. Suddenly on Tuesday he was sluggish and not eating much, but I thought maybe it was the heat. I noticed a pile of vomit with some undigested food. Yesterday he was worse. Long story short he is in the E.R. with heart failure. He’s only 4. Waiting for the cardiologist to see him, but I may have to put him down. Please pray for my sweet Magoo. Thank you.

Thank you. We are letting my sweet boy go tonight. I visited him today- my Magoo- I could only pet him a bit through the oxygen unit. The cardiologist saw him today and says he has a severe level of heart failure. I could put him on several medications, but it would only prolong his life by maybe a year, give or take. I do not want his last memories to be meds multiple times a day, which I know he hates, or for him to feel sick like this again, which is inevitable. He will die in my arms, which gives me some comfort.

Oh pucca I’m so sorry! I’m in tears here :,( .. But I know your doing the right thing for your Mr Magoo.. It’s the hardest decision we make but the most selfless one too .. He will run free full I energy in the Meadow and you can be sure My Buttons will be one of the first to greet him. There’s only a year between them Button was only approaching 3 so I’m sure they’ll have lots in common..

I’m so sorry this has happened .. :,(

Thank you, Buttons and AV, and Buttons- what a comfort that is to think of your little one greeting mine! Magoo would love that- he always wants to play! I also hope Magoo gets eyesight in the meadow and can see all the beautiful things.

I do not know if I am making the right choice or not- but I just want him happy and stress free. I would love to have him with me longer. I regret sometimes declining his requests to play when I was tired or lazy. I regret sometimes turning over in bed in such a way to make him restless and jump off mid-cuddle. I wish I could make him drool with happiness on last time. But I do not want him to have the rest of his life full of meds and Dr. appointments either. 🙁 This community is so understanding and supportive. Thank you.

I am so sorry you are going through this Pucca. I had to make a similar decision at the weekend and people here were very kind. You know your Magoo best and love him, so you will know if it is time. I am so sad for you.

Oh pucca I completely understand those feelings they are still very raw for me too.. Did I pet him that time he gave me that ” I want attention” look.. Did I hug him when he wanted me too.. It’s so hard! But from what I’ve learned over the years there is never a perfect flawless way to say good bye we will always have regrets it’s just nature..

I know for sure Buttons is running and playing like crazy in the meadow no longer the wobbly unbalanced cat he used to be here with me and like Buttons Pucca will be able to see perfectly in the meadow who knows maybe Buttons is rushing over so he’ll be the first thing Mr Magoo will see properly for the first time and then they’ll be inseparable !

I’m so very sorry Pucca. I’m crying too. I don’t know you except from your most recent posts, but I know you as a cat lover, as are we all, and your love for Mr. Magoo rings loud and clear. From what you have told us about his condition you are doing what is right for your kitty, but it’s so astoundingly hard on us. Most of us here know this experience all too well and we are here for you. Your guy will leave for now feeling only the love of your touch. My Nicky boy will also be at the Meadow by the Bridge to greet him. He’s been at the Meadow for four yrs now and will show your kitty all the best places to frisk about healthy and whole again. I am so sorry Pucca, and Magoo (what a sweet name!). I just hate it when we have to make decisions like this, we never know if we are doing the right thing while our hearts are breaking. Bless you during this awful time and bless Magoo as he leaves this life and walks into the next. They are never far from us, even though we can’t see them, I know they are still with us. Take care of your self too, grief can be such a disabling emotion…
