Hello everyone I’m so lost to what to do this is my first kitten being an adult. Someone found her all alone in a puddle on a stormy night. We took her in and everything is good except for her aggression we’ve had her for about 2 and a half months and she seems to get more and more mean iv tried everything we play throughout the whole day when she wants to but she attacks us very hard we have all the toys to try to guide her away from us but doesn’t seem to help we also stop play time when she attacks us but that doesnt affect her she is about 12 weeks old I’m at a loss I don’t know what to do… Thank you in advance

I don’t know what you mean by agression, but kittens this age do play rough. Patience is what you need lots of, and gentleness. You are doing all the right things, stopping playing when things get too rough. Toys instead of hands and fingers, I think eventually she will calm down. Don’t forget the vet visit, she is old enough for wormer and her first shots. Then when your vet thinks she is old enough (some vets spay earlier than others) she can be spayed so as not to have unwanted kittens. This also helps to calm them down. I have a 11 wk. old kitten that is a holy terror at the moment, it’s just what kittens do!

Hi Amber, we had the same issue with our kitten. What helped was to get him a playmate so that the two of them could expend their energy together and only come to us when they wanted cuddles. Two kittens isn’t a lot more work than one, and it was so sweet watching them play and sleep together. (My other kitten was very sickly and just passed away, after passing on the virus to Bruno 🙁 but once he’s recovered, we’re seriously considering getting him another playmate.)

    Good Morning Amber,

I’m a firm believer in (at least) two kitties at a time. When I was working full time, I wasn’t always available for my fur babies. Instead of not having loving, wonderful purr babies, I discovered that two are awesome and keep each other company. Purr playmates work on the same level and learn how to be civil. Because your kittah is aggressive, it’s better she learn manners from another kittah (about her same age) then tear you op. Kittyzee is right about spaying your girl-females can go in heat as early as 4 months. Nowadays, cats can be fixed when they weight 2+ lbs. Good Luck and keep us updated.

    MM,
I read your story and am very sorry for losing your girl because You’re an awesome meow mom. I agree you should give Bruno some goat’s milk. He’s a little guy and all the antibiotics can eliminate necessary bacteria. The goat’s milk has lots of good bacteria and is gentle on their tummies.

Thanks Pussigato! We’re giving him Lactol (powdered milk) with probiotics mixed in as well as some special gastro food for his stomach and chicken soup. He’s eating somewhat normally again, so we’re relieved. Cautious, but relieved. 🙂
