Penny came home from the hospital on Saturday. I asked her doctor if I should keep her in the bedroom, away from the Tornado Twins, and he said yes. Well, Pen was having none of that. The first time I opened the bedroom door with her in there, she ran out. I called the doctor to see if it was okay for her to be at large, and he said it was, as long as the other cats didn’t jump on her.
Well. I opened the front door, with the storm door closed, so the cats could get some sun. Penny lay down in the sun patch in ecstasy, rolling over, stretching, and so forth. Cedar came and lay down in the sun, too. Although there really was plenty of room in the sun patch, Penny decided it wasn’t big enough for her and her brother, and she tried to bite him! Not a good idea at any time, but particularly when you’re mending from a broken jaw. I took her straight back to the bedroom and left her there for a while.
She is now behaving absolutely normally and is very happy. I’ll have to confine her to the bedroom tonight so I can gauge her eating and elimination; I don’t expect anyone to be very happy with that, but it’s necessary. I’m to call on Thursday to schedule a follow-up X-ray on Friday or Saturday so that the doctor can make sure the jaw is healing properly.
