How’s Rick doing? Is he being patient enough to allow his body to heal?

Re: finding the furbabies in an emergency–where do they like to hide? Observe them during a thunderstorm. That will at least tell you where to look for them first should the need arise.

Sandi, they say lightning never strikes twice, and the chances of a fire in your home are fairly minimal to begin with, much less twice, but I think Ginny’s advice about having an escape plan is excellent — for all of us. I’m going to give that some serious thought.

I’m so glad your brother wasn’t more seriously hurt. Your family has received two beautiful miracles. God is good. He loves us so much.

Ginny, I read your story also, and I can see you’ve turned your children over to God. Isn’t it wonderful to know He is there to protect them? Now I know why you and your husband had such big, beautiful, happy smiles on your faces in the photo you shared with us!

Thanks, Jo. One of my very fervent prayers lately has been “Lord, I know you promised not to give me more than I can handle, but I really DON’T want to know how much more I can take!”

I learned long ago (the hard way) to not concern myself with anything that doesn’t ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY have to be done before I go to bed tonight. Tomorrow’s problems are God’s until tomorrow–sometimes He takes care of them for me before then. I am always thanking God for the “small favors”–like the light staying green long enough for me to pass.

I could talk about all the miracles God has worked on my life, but it would take a whole other blogging stream to do!

I’ve had a few of those miracles myself, Ginny. Some so small, shamefully, I almost didn’t notice them, and others so big, they’re incomprehensible.

You have such a great attitude about letting God take care of things while you sleep. I do that a lot, too. Pray, let go, and let God. And I, too, say, “Thank you, Lord,” a hundred times a day for small favors. I also say small prayers all day long like, “Please get me over this mountain safely,” or, “Please put your hand upon this food today, so that the people who’ll be eating it can taste the love I put into it,” or “Please let there be enough in my purse for whatever I need today.” I always get over the mountain safely, my clients always rave about my food, and I always have enough in my purse for whatever I need. Small examples of God’s love. I think He wants to take care of us. And that works for me.

I pray through my day, too. I pass a friend’s house on the way to work and say a small prayer for her, or if I find out someone has troubles I pray for them. Sometimes I tell them I am praying for them sometimes not. I pray for the strength or patience or whatever I need to get through the day. Seeing answers to prayers strenthens my faith.

Ginny, Rick has been home a week. There house has multiple levels and many stairs not so good for him. Fortunately the level that has the family room also has a bathroom and a bedroom so he is staying on that level. It also has a door that leads outside. My sister in love says that he is getting a little better each day. She was taught by the physical therapist the different exercises to help him with. The muscles in his leg are still not working (allowing him to lift it at all).

Some of the area churches have been sending crews to help work on the building. That too is a blessing and an answer to prayer.

Oh Sandi, I love the phrase you used to describe your sister in law! Sister in love! It wasn’t a typo, it was meant, right? Best wishes to your brother’s recovery. Time is key.

Paulajeanne, it was meant. I was blessed with 2 sister=in=love that I think of as sisters. I found it too confusing to introduce them as sisters and I don’t like sister in law not always a happy term. It wasn’t orginal with me I saw it used somewhere and adopted it for my own

Sandi, I’m glad to hear your brother’s home and recuperating well, with the support of his wife. It’s difficult in a house with lots of stairs, but it sounds like his arrangment will work well. Besides, later on those stairs can help with physical rehabilitation.

Are his tendons and ligaments mostly intact? The muscles are probably still pretty damaged, but without functional tendons and ligaments, the muscles can’t move properly.

Annecetra, I guess I don’t really know the answer to that. I know he was told the muscles were traumatized weren’t working to protect him from further injury. I do know that they said it would be at least a year for full recovery and that might be part of it.

I’m not surprised at how long recovery will take. He may have some surgery to restore function yet, but I’m just relieved that he’s going to be okay, and that he will regain function of his leg. Thank goodness he survived!

Annecetra, I think that our family is so grateful that it is just a broken leg than will heal because what could have happened is really scarey. I lost one brother in car accident I can’t even imagine losing another one. I know how precious the people I love are too me and that each day we have is a gift.

Sandi; So very sorry to have missed you earlier this week, but rest assured I continue to take to the Lord in prayer(s)you, your brother and the congregation.

It sounds like he has a long road of Physical Rehab ahead of him.I can relate, having come through 13 months of it myself after spending a week basically on life-support in a hospital bed fighting a deadly infection in my leg, then spending the next 4 months graduating from a walker to a cane.I’m still on blood-thinners for D.V.T.’s in both legs and probably will be indefinitely. As I told MCW a week ago concerning her Mum,the answer to the question of prayer is,I’m sure you know,MORE prayer. We are told to pray ceaselessly and earnestly in bad as well as good times. At all times!…and always giving Thanks to Him.May Our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus look with favor upon you all.Amen.

Tigerpaw, Thankyou. It sounds like you had quite an ordeal. I agree with you about prayer I know it is powerful.
