So I recently started feeding my 2 week old kitten PetAg instead of Hearts, and yesterday she had the first poop since. Really big one, but the very end of it was a little squirty. Then this morning, when I’m stimulating her, she farts and a tiny amount of clear liquid comes out in a bubble.

I cant tell if this is legitimately diarrhea or just an effect of the Karol syrup I put in a day ago, because her last two poops were separated by more than 2 days.

Next feeding I’m going to add 1/3 pedialyte, but if anyone can inform me on whether to be concerned about dehydration or not that would be great.

Btw, I only used one drop of the Karo syrup on two different feeding, so I didn’t do an absurd amount or anything.

Probably the Karo syrup .. I wouldn’t worry the main thing is you’ve illiminated hartz from their diet and she will probably have loose stool with the change of food anyway.. Keep an eye on her and if she develops diarrhea then make sure she is hydrated .. Young kittens all need to be wormed also as parasites will cause diarrhea too .. And when parasites are present the colon produces this clear mucus so that could indicate presence of parasites so ask you vet when is the soonest she can be wormed..

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I know how fragile kittens are so I’ve been getting paranoid about every poop or sneeze.

Honestly know that feeling Eric 🙂 it’s hard not to panic.. I have a little special needs 6 week old kitten at the moment.. I worry about every little squeak he makes 🙂 your doing everything right you’ll be able to relax in a few weeks when she’s bigger.. 🙂

If you’re ever unsure i’m sure calling your vet will ease your worry. I fostered, 4 2 week old kittens, after their momma had to be put down due to having a severe case of FIP. One kitten didn’t survive the other 3 did and are now 6 weeks. I was a nervous reck, slept on the couch for a week so i didn’t disturb my husband as i was up through the night syringe feeding them. Making a special food for them in my magic bullet. Just waiting for them to get to 2 lbs then off to the shelter for their neuters and then adoption. I’m sure everything’s ok, if you’re worried maybe you can ask the vet if a tech can just check for dehydration for free, it’s just a scruff check, you can look on youtube to see how it’s done.

You can also ask the vet if he/she thinks the kitten needs SQ Fluids.
