    Hi Everyone!
I have a two (almost three) week old kitten that a friend found completely abandoned in over 100 degree weather. I’ve decided to adopt the little guy and I am totally loving it! We’ve named him Odin.

The poor guy isn’t pooping. I stimulate him before and after feeding and sometimes randomly in between feedings. He is always eager to eat and is not acting sick. He doesn’t seem to strain too much (like he’s trying to poop) while stimulating. He pee’s like race horse though. I’ve tried adding a few drops of mineral oil to his food, watering down his KMR, stimulating with all types of cloth/cotton balls. Dunked his booty in warm water and stimulating…triangle method.. thermometer tip just a about a millimeter or two in his anus (with petroleum jelly)…still no poop. After day 5 I took him to the vet. The vet said he’s a little backed up with mild constipation. He gave me some wet food with plenty of fiber and a squirted a little dose of laxatives in his mouth.
It’s been two days since the vet and STILL NO POOP!
He’s still eating great and doesn’t mind at all if you massage his belly area.

Are there any other tips or tricks I can try/ when should I take him back to the vet?

Welcome Molly! I have never dealt with such a young kitten but many others here have and I am sure will chime in soon. One thing that is often recommended is to feed them goat’s milk over KMR. I haven’t looked for it but they say it is available at most grocery stores and comes in regular and condensed. Condensed will be in cans and you will need to add water. I have added some more tags as well that might help you find advice.

    Good luck with Odin!

    Thank you :]

I will probably have to try out the goats milk and maybe a little pumpkin.

I wouldn’t advise giving him pumpkin as that is usually used to help cats that have diarrhea as it ‘thickens’ them up.

Good advice from those above! You are doing everything that I would recommend. If he still hasn’t gone, I would definitely take him back to the vet and maybe they can give him an enema and get the hard stool out. Once that is out, you should be able to stimulate him with no problem. The goat’s milk will help immensely, as the KMR tends to constipate kittens. I would get it ASAP!
