Did I tell you guys I saw a beautiful walking stick on the door? I may have. I coaxed him to move closer to the top of the door cause of the dog going outside. Haven’t seen one in years. My daughter saw one on the back of the house within the past few years though. I looked for the snakes yesterday under the tarp. none….. It has been cold though, so maybe they found other places to hang out.

Last year and until April this year I worked for an ABC Store about 30 minutes from my apartment. I would catch little tree frogs that were about the size of my thumb nail. They were so cool. I’d never hurt them, just was amazed at how small they were.

One day an older gentleman who worked with me said there was a snake in the back. They were automatically calling the exterminator which was NOT cool with me.

I went in the back, found the little guy, grabbed him, put him in a brown bag, and let him go outside. They were shocked that a city girl from NJ would even know how to catch a snake!

I’m so sorry Lynn, my heart is breaking for Kay and her family. It is all SO sad…. 🙁 Hugs to all.

Ok, don’t like the visual! Don’t do roaches, spiders, (have to kill them for Kay, though, yuk) water bugs, and we won’t even talk about snakes! Stay out of harms way, all!

Dorie, get to bed, Mama talking now. See you tomorrow, hope you feel better in the morning. Love ya

Good for you saving that poor little snake, Cathi! What type of snake was it? I am so proud of you for doing that!! 🙂 Yes, I bet those little frogs were just adorable. There is a place near here that actually closes the road for I think 2 weeks so the salimanders or something like that can cross the road without being run over. Isn’t that neat?

Yes, this walking stick was about 3 1/2 inches long and was brown with I think like 3 legs on each side. Really cool!!!

Bumblebee even though we don’t live that far apart, I can honestly say, I don’t think I have ever seen one of these things! Glad you got to enjoy the experience. Email me. Lynn

I was raised in the city, too, Cathi, but I think I am a reincarnated country girl. When I was a kid (in New Orleans), I used to pretend that I was a cowboy who lived in Texas (of all places.) Now I do live in Texas.

See – going back to my roots.

    That’s very cool, Bumblebee!

I think I’ve heard of roads being closed for toads, lizards, and small crabs too!

I’m not sure what kind of snake it was. The guy who saw it said it was a black snake, but they kind of look like a big worm.

This snake was actually kind of aggressive. I’ve handled snakes before so I wasn’t worried… and been bitten by worse. I think it could have been a baby gray rat snake, though. He had the most beautiful markings. Grey and cream.

Someone (who wasn’t there) said it was probably a copperhead. I don’t think so, though the copperhead and grey rat snake look somewhat similar.

    Hey Pa buddy,

    Did you get my email?

I had a praying mantis on my car the other day. It just looked around and looked around. I was careful not to catch it in the door when I closed it.

The copperhead has brown saddle shapes on the body and has beige colorings between them. Poisonous snakes have the triangle shape head and heat sensors I think.

Well, goodnight everyone. My stomach is in a knot about tomorrow at the subdivision, going to take a glass of wine and a book to bed. I know I’ll be lying awake going over my defense though. Might take a sleeping pill.

Oh, I LOVE praying mantises!!! They are so adorable. I just adore nature.

Does anyone here like to watch the show Brother’s and Sisters on Sunday nights around 10pm?? I love that show.

Bobbi, I love the country. All the wide open spaces, the wildlife, the clean air and not to mention not as many people.

Unfortunately I don’t live in the country. Clemmons reminds me of NJ, which was good when I first moved here. I was very home sick and missed my friends like crazy.
