    Happy Ending to Purry Tale:
reunion 10 years later with Howie 🙂

Protecting Animals Through Changing Humanity shared Seattle Animal Shelter’s photo.

After 10 years a part, a microchip reunites this family. This is an amazing story. ~S
Lots of tears on Saturday… happy ones!

Meet Howie. His mom adopted him when he was a wee lad, and he was stolen near the Burke Gilman Trail about 10 years ago while his mom was on a trip to Spain. Howie was such a smart, friendly kitty, and it took his mom years of searching and crying before she finally adopted another cat.

Fast forward to 2014. A few days ago someone found a stray cat and brought him to SAS. Staff scanned him for a microchip, found his old license record noting he’d been stolen long ago, and started making calls. Saturday, after 10 years of being apart, Howie’s mom opened his kennel door and let him sniff her. He immediately leaned in to be petted and was soon in her arms. Now he’s off to meet his kitty brother and live out his life with his family. Best wishes, Howie!

It’s a great reminder of the power of identification. License, microchip, and nametag – and be sure to keep your information up to date!

    Tks JK,
Signed several petitions and encourage others to do likewise. Elected to spare myself from reading entire stories, thanks for heads-up re unpurriness. Headlines were enough to get my “John Hancock”. Also chose not to comment as I would run out of unfluffy wording and set my keyboard on fire via spontaneous combustion due to anger at what some creeps consider OK.

    Solar Storm headed toward earth!

Big solar storm heading toward Earth, could make Northern Lights visible
    from article:
(On March 13, 1989, a solar storm knocked out power for the entire province of Quebec for 12 hours. Power grids in the U.S. were impacted, but didn’t have blackouts.)

Strange that as a Quebecer I don’t remember this ’89 power outage. Although I very much do remember Ice Storm ’98 where in my ‘hood power was knocked out for over a week. I adopted meadow dweller Nicky (first kit ever) in June of that same year. Don’t know what I would have done in storm as I stayed with peeps and kit would now have been welcome, and staying in my apt was a no-go as there was fear of gas leakage and everyone left was evacuated. No way that I would leave a kit behind, not in this world.

Hope that these Cafés (article mentioned the Purina Cat Day Café in NY), become purrmanent hangouts in respective ‘hoods. Like the first (of two) up and running (or pouncing) for about a month now here in Montreal. Will have to stop by for my 2nd visit and purry fix soon!

Today’s Feather in your cap smile story:
    Owl on Boat hood
This is the heart-warming moment a tired owl took a break on a canoe after the rower rescued it from a freezing lake.

And it stayed on-board all the way back to shore, where it was dried off and released back into the forest.
The northern hawk wwl had reportedly fallen into Lake Tuusula, north of Helsinki, when the adventurer spotted it stranded in the water.
It was cautious enough to watch its rescuer the whole way, but didn’t lift a feather.
These owls are not nocturnal like most others, which is why it was spotted in daylight.
They feed on small rodents and mammals as well as other birds.
The brown birds are non-migratory and often found in North America and across Siberia and northern Scandinavia. Via By Rebecca Pocklington the Daily Mirror …. — with Lydia Anneli Bleth.

Hope momkit makes complete recovery. Adorable litter, 1st kit resembles mom, could hardly see wee black kitty! But the grey tabby does me in as reminds me of Dorry as wee lad. Of course animals feel love, they’re sentient creatures, probably more kits have loving feelings than some people, but I will stop there and go back to admiring the sweet kitties.

I believe the Brooklyn hero mama cat was none other than Scarlett. She recovered from her burns. I think one of her babies died. She lived a good long life. I forget what year this was, but Ms. Scarlett certainly was Mother Of The Year.
