Duchess’Mom – Perhaps I should have phrased it as experimenting with solids ๐Ÿ™‚ Tomorrow He’ll be 4 weeks old. He’s chewing on the nipple a lot, though that may just be him teething. I gave him some goats milk & rice cereal mixed with wet kitten food (Iams) in a small dish. He did lick up and eat some and yes he make a complete mess of himself lol.

I intend to give him formula for another couple weeks (longer if he needs). I’m in no rush to get him off the bottle just yet. As much of a pain it can be sometimes I know I’m going to miss it. Don’t think I’m going to miss making him poop however lol.

As for litter training I picked up some pure clay litter, non clumping and no fragrance. I did read about how they can ingest the litter and how the clumping kind can harm them. Can’t say I’ve heard of “world’s best” I’ll have to check that out. Right now he still squeaks when he needs pooped. So I’m introducing the idea of the litter box more than him actively using it. Read online about putting some of him waste in the box to help him get the idea, along with scratching his paws in it. I’m sure he’ll get the idea before long. Although I once had a kitten that would go to the bathroom in his bedding and sleep in his litter box haha.

His name is still up in the air.. Rocky is one of the top contenders. I call him a lot of things “little monkey” is probably what I use most though there is “little rat thing” or ‘weasel”. My girlfriend has been calling him squirt. I think that’s because he peed on her lol. I’m bad at naming things but lately I’ve been thinking of Dexter or just Dex.

Oh. finally found the camera (misplaced it a few days) so I’ll see about taking some new pics tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

Just wanted to give a small update. Gizmo is doing well. I moved and didn’t take pics for a whole but here is an oldie, just after weening. He carried his binki for about a week I think.

Hi QWOWP, love the picture of Gizmo with his binki. I’ve never seen a cat with a binki until now. It’s good to hear Gizmo is growing up and doing great. Looking forward to new pictures.

http://fmpinball.com/opx/gizmo2_4-11.jpg – use to be his favorite spot but he’s a bit too big now!

Just wanted to add how grateful I am to have found this site and to all the people that responded with helpful advice and words of encouragement when he was a tiny baby.

I’ll see about submitting the binki pic to the kittenmaster.

I’m sorry maybe I should have started a new thread. Gizmo is healthy and alive. In fact he became the alpha male out doors. Sorry I have no current pics of him. That said I have a few of his offspring. Lucy and Ethel.Ethel is fine (she look like a moo cow). They both got sick as kittens, Ethel throw it off like a cold, Lucy almost died. I packed her in ice (high temp) and took her to the vet in the morning. She has sinus and neurological damage. She is a good cat but cant jump and climbs so i never clip her claws. Most night she sleeps on ‘her’ pillow i have on my bed.

The problem is she stopped using the litter box and i don’t know why.She has been going in the bathroom. At least its in the bathroom so clean up isn’t that bad. I am going to put a box in there to see if she’ll use it but nothing has changed. I would appreciate ay advice.

Most kits like their own litter box/pan. Kits are finicky – like clean litter – my kits are like that – jump in as soon as clean it out/LOL
If cat is not fixed will mark territory too as pee/poo in other area.
    More info…good luck

It could be that she is in pain of some sort which makes cats do weird things like not using the litterbox when they WERE using it before. She could have an infection of some sort like a UTI (urinary tract infection). She will need to see a vet for a proper diagnosis and medications.

I understand the clean box but she never had a problem sharing with her sis, they are 2 years + now. She does not seem to be in any pain or distress. The last time i took her to the vet he considered her problems ‘normal’ meaning her sinus cavities are very damaged and he felt she had well adapted to the brain damage she had incurred
She has never been good about using the box, she tries or did. usually she;d scratch a big whole and poop onside the box
I know cats tend to prefer their own boxes. How can i take where she is going and get her back to a box?
