wow I couldn’t imagine loosing such a little fighter. I grow so attached to animals. When I saw Salem’s pic I fell in love with him right then and there. My heart goes out to you. Because if it were me I would take it so very hard. Something about animals and on top of that animal babies then to have an injured one well My heart would have been that baby’s forever. I am so sorry

#3 was alive when I found him, we brought him in, dried and warmed as quick as possible, pedialyte, then feed, and then we lost him late lastnight. the first one is doing ok though, moves around, cries for food etc… we are gonna continue working with him and see how it goes.

Poor little one, the odds are always against these little orphans. Thank you so much for trying so hard. I hope the first little one continues to grow and thrive.

we’re working with the surviving little one. it appears that he has worms, so we’ve gotta figure out what to do about that. other than that, he’s eating and moving around, and of course crying.

Vets have special dewormers for tiny kittens. I’m sure if you explain your situation to them they might give you some without a consult. Here in SA the vet uses stuff called panacor/panacur/pana-something-or other. 0.02ml for a two week old kitty. Its important to have it sorted out as soon as possible. I’ve had kittens nearly die of diahrrea caused by worms.

The vets around here won’t even check them for free. We would have to pay for a visit and any treatment for them. We do most of the vaccinations for our animals. The only one we can’t give under law is Rabies. We go to the clinics for that vaccine. I am so tempted to go to vet school and get my license so I can help out more of the animals in the area.

Update on the remaining little one:

Today he has been kinda lethargic, not wanting to eat, not moving around too much. so tonight I made up some pedialyte for him, and he took about 5cc of that. we’ll see how it goes…

Ohhh, that’s worrying. Please let us know how he does. Keep the fluids up and if he won’t eat, a smear of light-coloured Karo syrup across his mouth (no blobs, nothing he could choke on) or stroked onto the roof of his mouth and his tongue, will give him a bit more energy and keep his blood sugar level up.

He passed during the night. He snuggled into me it looked like he fell back to sleep. I didn’t realize he had passed for a bit. I don’t think he was in any pain or discomfort. He just took a few ml of formula and snuggled up as he always does after he eats and fell asleep. I would wait a few minutes before I put him back in the box we were using as his bed. That was when I realized he was gone.

Kelsy, as I said on the other thread, I’m so, so sorry. Oh, poor wee darling but it sounds like there was no pain or suffering, he just slipped away, warm and safe, with a full tummy and a mum to love him.

Often the mother cat will abandon her kittens because she already knows there’s something wrong with them. So many things can go wrong during pregnancy and birth, especially if she wasn’t getting good nutrition. You did everything you could. I’m so sorry.

You did all you could. Thanks for caring. A lot of people wouldn’t have even tried.

You did the right thing by taking them in. So sorry for all three. It doesn’t seem like they had any discomfort when they left, and they had a good mama that loved them. Again, so sorry.

It is ok. Thank you everybody, for the kind words. I am sad, but I know he was not in any pain and he was comfortable. He was up and down yesterday. Barely eating at one feeding and lethargic, then eating like a champ and full of energy. I held him wrapped in a wash cloth for almost 20 minutes before I realized he was gone. I had to wrap him in a wash cloth at feedings because his little claws tore up my hands otherwise.
