Hello I’m new to this website and not one hundred percent sure I’m doing this correctly but here goes..

I recently got a new female kitten named Bailey who is 10 weeks old. She has lots of toys, scratch posts, bed, blankets, litter tray, food and water all day long however there are some issues shall we say with her that I could use some advice with to see if I’m doing anything wrong.

    1. I understand that kittens are pretty nocturnal and are more awake at nighttime but I literally am getting around 3-4 hours broken sleep because Bailey meows and plays all night. I play with her most of the day to try and tire her out so that she will be more tired at nighttime however this is currently not working enough. I also tried to put her in another room in the evening however she crus so loudly and I feel guilty. Does anyone have any advice on how to perhaps get her to sleep during the night more?

    2. Whenever I leave the room she crys non stop and again I feel guilty for leaving her even if its just to pop to the kitchen for a glass of water she crys and crys non stop. I don’t close the door I leave it open but she meows still. Any advice on how to stop her crys so much?

    3. Bailey has lots of toys to play with and scratch posts however she likes to play with her litter tray. I clean the litter tray out every time after use but I don’t want her to play with the litter as its pretty unhygienic if she’s running all over the sofa and beds etc.. is there anyway to perhaps stop her doing this as I don’t want to say no or tell her off because I don’t want her to not use the liter tray or be scared to.

    4. I have an adult cat who is ten called Lucy who is currently hating Bailey and hisses at her but I have been keeping them separate and apart will this have any effect on either of them in the future?

If anybody has any advice at all I would be so grateful and also if I’m doing anything wrong please feel free to tell me so I can stop doing so. Thanks in advance

    Hello David,

I have a 5 month old kitten and the only thing I have to say is be patient.
The first days I brought Jazz to my apartment he will play around all night long, he would make noise, jump on the bed, hunt my feet, meow… All of this because he wanted to have some attention.
I used to play with him a lot to tire him and it didn’t seem to work.

The only thing that worked for me was ignoring him… It was hard, but I would pretend I was asleep, would move, I did it for a couple of weeks until he realized all of the meowing and jumping wasn’t working on me and I wasn’t giving him any attention.

He stopped and now he sleeps with me or plays quietly in the other room but he doesn’t bother me anymore.

    Hope this helps!
