Hi Iddy,
Sounds like your kitten has not been introduced properly to a litterbox. Make sure you place it in an area of low traffic in your home, where kitty can have a little privacy. Make sure that the litter is unscented (and preferably non clumping) until it learns that litter is not for eating.
After each meal, place the kitten in the box and take it’s paw and scratch the litter with it. If you find kitty poops somewhere, then place them in the box and when you put the kitty in, it will smell that and associate that that’s the place where it needs to go.
Remember, this kitten is only 8 weeks of age and is probably missing it’s siblings and mother. Most kittens aren’t fully weaned until 8 to 10 weeks. The socialization with people should be happening from birth on and it is still learning. In order for it to not be afraid of people, it needs to know that you are there to provide comfort, food, safety, and protection. No loud noises, yelling, etc to scare it.
