Hi. I rescued a stray kitten two days ago. It has been awhile since he has had bowel movements. Well he finally did and had some difficulty going through the movement. After he finished. I checked his butt. There was slight bleeding I am really worried. I checked his poo. And to my suprise unlike dog poo it was really hard but he has no worms. This is my first kitten ever and i am very worried. Is it the formula I’m feeding him or the fancy feast wet food. He is four weeks old.

Zoe, he probably had an empty tum when you found him and it would take a day or two for his digestive system to kick in. But it does sound like he might have constipation. This tends to happen with powdered KMR. You can switch to pre-mixed liquid KMR, you can try canned goats milk (the baking aisle at supermarkets), you can try sieving the powdered milk before you give it to him and you can try adding more water to his formula and/or wet food or a drop or two of vegetable oil. Click the pink tag on ‘constipation’ for heaps of info and here is one TDK member’s guide to constipation: http://dailykitten.com/chat/topic/chaos-guide-to-constipation/

Also click on the messybeast and orphans pink tags for heaps of information on good sites to help you raise your kittens.

Oh and to add to Jcats advice .. If you don’t see worms in stool it doesn’t mean they aren’t there .. It would be extremely unusual if she didn’t have worms.. If she is 4 weeks old you local vet can prescribe a wormer .. And the presence of blood on stool a lot of the time can be due to parasites.. So I would definitely have her wormed ASAP.. Don’t get store wormer though make sure it’s from a vets for young kittens..

you can try a different formula, and maybe other food to see. hard stool may be a diet issue, and the bleeding could either be infection,, worms, or possibly straining, as cat poo usually isn’t that hard. you can also look under the tags here for others consitapted cat issues, and see if this might help your little bab
