    Hello!

We are new here. We were blessed with a now 6 week old siamese mix kitten who we named Laurel.

“She” was taken to the vet on Tuesday for her shots, deworming, and just a general checkup. Turns out, SHE is actually a HE (we all got a laugh out of that including the vet) and he apparently has a “gut infection” so we’ve given him antibiotics since then. He is otherwise healthy and on par as far as weight goes for his age!

After calling the vet back to find out what that infection meant due to the vagueness of the description on the prescription, it’s coccidia. He is responding well to treatment and is acting as himself.

I have already reached out to the vet and am awaiting response. He was tested for worms (came back negative) but was dewormed anyway as a precaution since he had fleas when we got him.

My question is, does this look like a slug or a worm? it was outside of his bed and there was a trail of mucus on our floor. It was not in the litter box or in his poop.

That looks like a slug to me. Ewww. But anyway, the vet probably prescribed ALBON for his coccidosis. It’s a different med when they have worms. Good luck with your baby!!

LOL yes ewww! It didn’t have the antennas like a slug usually does so I didn’t know if it was truly one or not. I put it on a napkin and in a bag for the vet just to be sure.

We stay in the finished basement at my parents house currently and had a storm last night. Usually critters never get in so that’s why I was alarmed.

The vet did prescribe a weeks dose of ALBON and he is doing fine. We also have a probiotic from the vet that we are putting in his wet food. Hopefully he starts to sprout up. He’s 1.25 lbs and I feel like he’s not gaining weight but the vet says he is fine and healthy.
