So back at Easter we found a kitten that had been abandoned by his mother and took him in and loved him for a month until he went to the meadow. about a week before we lost sunshine my BF was in the backyard doing lawn work and he came and got me, he had found more kittens but this time they were with their mother. They looked to be 6-8 weeks old at the time we watched them and they weren’t too scared of me i think bc i was carrying my baby and momma saw that. well after that we would get random sightings of these 4 or 5 kittens. after sunshine passed we got another kitten Alice who was 7 weeks old then and is now 6 months and has already had her first heat cycle (getting that fixed next week) I know that those kitten have been hanging around my house more since she’s gotten older throughout the summer but this week i’ve been amazed at how they are getting used to us coming and going. 2 nights ago i even noticed 1 (that i think might be the mamma) that was laying out sunning in our garden by the front door. I got groceries out of the car and had to take a few trips and she never moved, she watched me but never moved. then i tried to creep closer to her and she finally scurried away but i noticed her big belly so now i think that shes gonna have more kittens…
But a couple of the orginal kittens are getting very brave. I was cooking out last night and had walked inside after flipping the chicken and when i went to go back out i noticed the black twins (i’m assuming) standing right outside the door at the grill. they wold run off when i went back out but they came within 2 feet of me while i was standing out there. We sat out some water and food and maybe we can tame them enough that maybe we can get them to the spay/neuter clinic to get them fixed…i really can’t afford it but i think they have programs in our area to help with the cost. anyways just wanted to share about our new kitty friends

    Good Morning Melissa,
I agree wild mom is pregnant and she (and her kittens) need to be spayed/neutered. I don’t know what part of NC you live in but here’s a link to all the services available. Call them and explain you can’t afford the services and what should you do now. Sometimes, they will accept a nominal fee ($10 each) since you are feeding/caring for them.

    Good luck
