Hello we got a kitten yesterday the family who gave her to us said she was about a month old but me and my mum think she is actually about two weeks old and when we saw the mother we think the mother rejected her shes drinking the kitten milk we give her and shes content and happy she plays and even sleeps on our laps we have gotten her to pee but the problem is we can’t get her to poop we have tried using a cloth that was damp with warm water i have tried looking on the internet due to us being worried but couldn’t find anything so i came here to ask for advice.

try adding a little (few drops) of dark Karo syrup to her milk. It is common for them not to go everyday however. Is her tummy soft? if yes then I’d think baby is ok

well at the moment shes soft around there but last night her tummy was a bit bloated but we got her to pee a few times and it went down but still we just want to make sure she’s alright like all cat and kitten owners do and thank you so much for helping i truly appreciate it.

Here are a couple of sites that are long, but extremely helpful:
    http://messybeast.com/handrear.htm, http://www.safehavenforcats.com/newborn.htm
They may not poop everyday, but that’s normal for young kittens. Read the sites above, and if you still need help we are all here for you. Keep us posted on your progress!

Hi, Kuro, check the pink tag on constipation, especially Chaos’s Guide to Constipation. You could try diluting her kitten milk a bit more. This is the most common query we get with bottle-fed babies, the powdered milk does seem to constipate them.
