    OK-

So, probably 1 week ago, we found a tiny kitten (we are guessing 4-6 weeks old) on the side of the road. She was freezing cold, eyes swelled shut with infection, and skinny as can be. We had NO HOPE of her even making it this far.

We warmed her up, bottle fed her, and gave her antibiotics. Since then, her eyes have somewhat healed (still pretty infected, but will partially open)
She’s been eating 3-4 droppers of milk, she’s been playful, pooped, peed, etc.

Well this morning she jumped out of her box, and landed in the floor beside the box. (probably only a foot, and carpet)

My mom found her laid over on her side, barley breathing and ice cold!!!!
We aren’t sure how long she laid there or if the cause was even the reason for the way she’s acting. We’ve gotten so attached to this little kitten and my whole family will be crushed if anything happens to her.

    PLEASE HELLP

Hi Kayla – I’m guessing you’ve warmed her up at this point. The breathing issue is a huge concern; you should get her to the vet ASAP.

100% agree with JJ. Peeps on this site have loads of experience with kits, but cannot diagnose such a serious issue online. Kit needs to be seen. I would suggest going to an emergency ie open 24/7 clinic if this is possible.

Kayla, I’m hoping you followed the advice from those above, and got your kitten to the vet. I hope she has survived. The biggest issue for her, would be that she was cold, even though she is 4 to 6 weeks old and most kittens this age are pretty good at regulating their body temperature, you don’t know what kind of start she had or if she is even that old. Warming her and getting somekind of liquid into her (karo syrup on her gums, warm milk, pedialyte) to perk her sugar levels up.

Keep us posted and let us know how she is doing!

    Hey guys,

Thanks for all the replies. We did take her to the vet, she stayed the night.

Unfortunately, she did not make it.

Here’s the message I got from my mom:

I talked to the Dr and she said she was very sorry that this was the outcome but that she was severely dehydrated and that her sugar was way down. She also had a respiratory infection that got in her lungs and it was to much for her to overcome. She said they did everything they could from warm incubator, fluids and antibiotics but she was to weak and usually that’s the case when they are so Little.

We are all super heartbroken but I’m glad she’s not in pain anymore…

We found her on thanksgiving eve, abandoned in the cold, on the side of the road… I’m so thankful we were able to show her what love and cuddles and snuggles were before she left this mean world. 🙁

    Her name was Eva ??

I’m sorry to hear your wee girl has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. In her short life, you gave her love and warmth. She will remember this all the while she plays in the Meadow.

So very sorry for your loss. Wee Eva knew only your love in her all-too-brief life.

Oh no, I’m so sorry, Kayla. I was so hoping that once she warmed up her breathing would stabilize. Unfortunately, once an infection hits the lungs, it is hard for the toughest kittens to fight off.
Thank you for finding Eva and showing her love.
