A few weeks ago my cat had babies. My Dad found out and took 2 away. There was only one left. She’s playful and sounds funny but whenever I put her on a leash she never walks, even when i do a small tug. How do I get her to walk whenever I want her to?

LOL, that’s a biggie. I tried to train my kitties to walk on a leash but they did the same thing. I tried persuasion, treats, etc. but finally gave up.

Btw, do you have any pics of your kit?

What have you called your kitten?

SnowyKitten, you have to let them get used to the leash before you can do anything..if the leash seems too heavy at first, use a piece of yarn or string and let it trail/drag along behind the kitten for awhile, then put the leash on and do the same thing, once the kitten is used to it, pick the leash up and follow the kitten, then work on leading the kitten to where you want to go. It takes time, they aren’t quite as easy as puppies/dogs to leash train, so you have to have patience when doing it.

SnowyKittenAngel, hello. It might help if you just let your kitten wear a lightweight collar for awhile to get used to the feel (maybe a nylon collar), then try attaching the leash for a few minutes everyday. Make it a nylon leash also, they seem so lightweight compared to the leather one I had for my baby kitten about 40 years ago. Be patient, your kitten will come around and you’ll enjoy walking her. I know I did. Good luck.

Hello SnowyKittenAngel..I can’t add to the advice you’ve been given. It’s the best advice..But remember it’s VERY IMPORTANT to relax and be patient..but also to be consistant in your gentle urgings..She’ll come around in time. Best of Luck!
