My Mama had a Christmas party. There were a buncha ladies and lotsa little foodies, and my mama was worried that I would be all ascared and upset, like I used to be with my brother Rotley before he went to the Meadow and that I would hide under her bed until everyone was gone, like last year.
But I wasn’t ascared this time!
I came down to the landing on the stairs and I looked at all of them, and when I started singing they all turned and got very quiet and made sweet noises to me.
And my Mama said I flirted with them and pranced a bit and made sweet eyes! And they all followed me up the stairs to Mama’s room!
And I found out that crabmeat au gratin and little bits of ham and the teenie little sausages and the shredded roast beast were WONDERFUL! And everyone petted me and said what a beautiful boy I am and scratched my ears and gave me tummy rubs and gave me little bits of whipped cream and buttered scones — but I just licked the butter offa those little biscuits. I don’t wanna get too fat. But I ate up all the other little foodies!
Next year Mama said I could wear a ruffle around my neck. And I’m not shy any more!
