My friend gave me the runt of the litter of kittens one of her cats had. The whole litter is around 10 weeks or so but my little one seems small for that age. She eats fine, uses the litter box fine and drinks plenty of water. I’m just nervous because she’s so tiny. Is that normal with her being the runt? [code]

The runt of the litter is usually smaller than the other kittens. She may be boney because she has worms and that isn’t unusual, because most all kittens have them. They get them from their moms. She just needs a vet visit and they will check her over and give you some worm meds for her. The worms take up a lot of the nutrition from the kitten. They can eat and eat and not put on weight. Once the worms are gone, she should fill out nicely and feel better too.

Worms would show in her poop right?

No, not until you get the worm meds and they die. Sometimes they show up, sometimes they don’t.

    Hi Dylan,

Welcome to TDK land. KZ gives great advice, always. My only comment is you can get some Nutrical for your girl. It’s got extra good stuff for her and, in addition to her kitten chow, can help her gain weight. You would only give it to her for 2-3 months max. This is found at any pet store.

Thanks for the help. She Semmes a bit bigger then when I first got her but still tiny. She’s such a cuddle monster. I’ll be taking her to the vet soon, just waiting on my paycheck 🙂
