AZDeb – I hear you about kitties in the dark! Here in the UK, during the longest nights in winter it doesn’t get light until around 8:00 AM, so it will be very dark for anyone getting up early for work. Since Tikka is black, she is impossible to see in the dark. When I have to get up before my husband I can’t turn the light on in the bedroom, so I have to wait until I am out in the hall and at the top of the stairs before I get to a lightswitch. When I come out of the bedroom, I have to listen very carefully to see if I can tell whether she is there, and then shuffle my feet along the floor until I can get to the hall lightswitch to make sure I don’t end up stepping on Tikka.

this site is so funny LOL it’s nice to know that i am not the only one that has my cat visiting with me while i am in the bathroom. somedays she

sllllooooooowwwwllllyyyy walks across the room as i am standing in the doorway waiting for her so that i can close the bathroom door. other times she flies into the bathroom usually running between my legs, so that she can beat me. guess this is her way of letting me know exactly who is in control.

My sister’s cat Onyx used to stand up on his hind legs and push the bathroom door open with his front paws. He was such a funny cat. We all miss him so much.

Hey, HM! Love everyone’s stories. Bosley is my official ‘bathroom buddy’ in the mornings (well, evenings, afternoons. . .all the time!). He even likes to sit on my lap while I’m ‘using the facilities’! He sits facing me, with his head under my chin. Then, he starts snoring. It’s amazing how long I’ll sit on the pot just so I don’t disturb him!

    LOL @ Bosley!

Huddy and Sebastian do not like closed doors at all. Sebastian will usually stick his paw under the door and cry like the world is coming to an end. Huddy just THROWS himself against the door.

This morning I had to hold Huddy on my right arm (he looked like a large round towel draped on my arm) while I brushed my teeth with my left hand. Every time I tried to put him down he’d wrap his legs around my arm and hold on. My arm was getting a work out – he’s 20 pounds now.

Sebastian just likes to come in and sit on the counter and gaze at his reflection. Such a vain boy.

Maverick just doesn’t care most of the time, but last week he came in and cried for me to hold him (like I described holding Huddy earlier) so I did. After that, I didn’t see him all day. Goofy brindle.

My cats (and dog) all hate closed doors-especially Bosley! He sits up (Buddah-boy style) and runs his paws ferociously up and down the door. It’s amazing how much noise he makes, considering he’s declawed (don’t want to hear it!). He will also do the paw bit at the pantry door when the food dish gets below half full. Heaven forbid, I know the poor thing is starving to death–all you have to do is look at his sinewy figure!

This is WAY too much info. but I’ll share! Must keep the bedroom door open at all times (Bosley crying, etc. Rowdy (dog) scratching and BARKING, etc.) when I’m in there. Well, just imagine man-friend’s surprise when Bosley poked his head in-between our intertwined bodies and laid down on his neck. . .I thought it was hilarious! Man-friend is not a cat lover, but tolerates mine because he knows how much I love them. Of course, Bosley LOVES man-friend!

Cats are a great contraceptive – it’s that head on one side *what ARE you doing* look that does it, just gives me the giggles… 🙂

Sebastian actually used to sit BETWEEN myself and the man friend when we first started dating and would lay BETWEEN us when we went to bed (whether it was to sleep or whatever). It was pretty funny. Man friend used to laugh that I had my own protector. If he mad a move towards me, Sebastian would growl at him and bare his teeth. He’s a much more mellow kitty now, and loves the man friend.

This bathroom thing must be some characteristic born in cats. My Smudge has to come into the bathroom with me. If she doesn’t know I’m in the bathroom, I’ll hear her meow and I’ll call out, “I’m in the bathroom.” Then she’ll come in and get a pat or two from me. Sometimes she stays in there, but most of the time she’ll just wander back out after she’s used her litter box. I sometimes ask her if she thinks I need a “bathroom buddy.”

For years before my Max died, he always had to have a drink of water from the paper cup I used to brush my teeth. He would wait patiently while I brushed my teeth, rinsed my mouth, and put clean water in the paper cup. Then he would jump up to the sink and drink the water. Several times he would also drink from the faucet if I turned it on for him.

Was Max a tabby? Every cat I’ve ever had that drank from the faucet was a tabby.

Do ya’ll know the types that don’t really like, or know cats, and are a little freaked out by them? That’s the man friend. He’s just not used to them. The first time he came over after Bosley’s arrival, Bosley sat up Buddah-style, and man-friend just grinned. He sat down on the couch with a ‘whew, didn’t have to pick him up or anything’ attitude. What did Bosley do? Cuddled up next to man-friend’s neck on the back of the couch. Man-friend did not move for over an hour. Bosley? He put his paws on man-friend’s shoulder JUST TO LET HIM KNOW HE WAS THERE! Man-friend? Had a sick type smile on his face that let me know that he had no idea what to do. They crack me up!

Tiger loves to go potty with me. He can tell when I’m getting ready to go into the bathroom. He makes a mad rush and tries to beat me there. He then jumps on the comode and talks to me like, “I was here FIRST.” I usually end up holding him while I do my business.

The best story I have of any of our babies and a “personal” moment is when my sweet Poopa (my husband- that’s his nickname, don’t ask me where he got the nickname of Poopa but that’s what our granddaughters call him) was starting to get romantic…. Yummy (our tabby cat that we had in Michigan) thought that hubby was hurting me and hurtled herself at him, claws full out. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW cat flew into the air when he hollered. Poor hubby, poor kitty, laughing wifey!

This is toooo funny, and soooo true.

I have two bodyguards – Dasher and Caspar – while I’m on the potty – or taking a shower, sometimes more.

Watson loves to jump into your arms whether you are sitting or toweling off.

I have to keep a glass full of water on my bathroom sink – even though we have a drinkwell waterer for the cats.

And if I walk down the hallway, I always have an escort. If I have forgotten something, turn around and go back to the bathroom for retrieval, the cats will turn with me and try to beat me back.

This is an everyday occurrence, so I can relate to what everyone wrote.
