Every night in the middle of the night my cat (Boo) crys out “I’m all alone!!!” It’s really cool to have a talking cat but I wish she would stop waking me up & wait till the morning!!

How old is Boo, it could be that she is missing her litter mates and will get used to her new home soon enough.

When mine were little and cry like that I would ether give them a stuffed animal to curl up with that was about their size or I would put them on the bed with me and let them curl up next to me.

My Mum’s cat Bones (who lives with us) does that – and he’s too old to manage the stairs, so snuggling up on the bed with us wasn’t an option. One thing that helped a bit, daft as it may sound, was a small nightlight in the corner of the room where he sleeps. He now just yowls (a truly bloodcurdling sound!) once a night, usually early morning if he thinks you might have forgotten breakfast…!

My buddy Max (almost 14 yrs old) will yowl sometimes just out of the blue, found that he is one of many things. He forgets where he is at (so I now have night lights in the hallway, both bathrooms, and the kitchen), he is carrying a small stuffed animal around and crying at the same time, or he thinks that the mealtime has been missed somehow.

My mother’s cat Mitzi (19 yrs old) does that also. She sits in the kitchen and yowls several times in the wee hours of the morning, waking up an equally elderly lady (hope mum doesn’t see this), she calls out ‘I’m here’. We think Mitzi wakes up and forgets where she is.Once mum has called out all is well for the rest of the night.

My two bad boys do that, too. One time Ruggles let out this high-pitched scream in the middle of the night, and I raced downstairs in terror. He and his brother Rotley were sitting at the bottom of the stairs, side by side, looking up at me with amusement.

Bet one of the little devils had a stopwatch on him.
