Chinese New Year is celebrated with festivities, fireworks, brightly coloured lights, special nomz and gift giving. The entire Café has been re-oriented in accordance with principles of Feng Shui.

That is adorable, but the ginger kitten won’t thrive on bananas! I see that it is also the year of the monkey for Vietnamese (there are a lot of Vietnamese around where I live, and the animals aren’t always exactly the same as the Chinese). Most crucial to us, the Chinese year of the rabbit becomes the YEAR OF THE CAT for Vietnamese, giving us two felines, as the year of the tiger remains unchanged. Google “vietnamese year of the cat” and you’ll find some lovely pussycats!

That finger-sized baby monkey kit M. Fur real? Anyway squeeee!!!!!!!!!
PG, not sure if it’s my ‘puter/this site/Photobucket but while I see links to your pics they don’t show up on site. I had same prob and had to use “img” function on this site and do copy/paste to get pics to appear. Not fun but doable. Purrhaps just my outdated system. *Sigh*
I take that back – eventually pics did appear – strange, but lots of things are.
    “Back in the barrel” Hehehe.
Go Broncos – I’m assuming as it’s your hometown, it’s your team?
Anyway did not sleep much. Srsly cold and dark out. Going to early morning or as it would appear late night spin class.

Good morning! I could see cats and monkeys getting along well. I call my boy cats monkeys all the time.

Looked over Sunday’s cafe. Aww, love how well Joan’s Junction kitties are doing. 🙂

We went to our friends’ house to watch the super bowl (just stayed for the first half). I think it’s the first time I’ve ever socialized for the super bowl and the first time I’d watched it in many years. It was nice, but my tummy has a hangover…don’t usually eat the kind of stuff we had last night. Feeling a bit better after my normal breakfast. My human boys wanted to watch the second half when we got home. So they stayed up while hubby and I went to bed. Think that’s a first!

LOL on the ‘puppymonkeybaby’ commercial AV, I’m with you, but not only did I find it creepy, but not funny. I guess I expect more and thought this year’s commercials were a let down. Where were the fabulous Clydsdales in the Budweiser commercials? Loved Lady GaGa though, and guess what? Her piano player is from a town only 30 minutes away, and is best friends with my brother in law’s son! Yes, he has it made in the shade and says the “lady” is quite nice. She did a bang up job of the singing of the national anthem, IMHO, and the half time show was great too. Of course, you can’t go wrong with Bruno 😛 and I love Cold Play!! Beyonce, well, not of fan of her style I guess, but she is an entertainer.
You all know I love animals, but did I ever say that I was not fond of monkeys? I don’t know why, but I do not care for their screeching, howling, humanlike behavior…. 😆 I probably should explore that more, but I think the kittens in those pics above should BEWARE!
    Look out all, it’s MONDAY!!

OH and I forgot to say Thank YOU PG–that kitten video in yesterday’s cafe was just adorable! Yes, it does bring back memories of the girls with cats under each arm, their little legs dangling while they try and pick up a pile of squirmy kittens. Also they used to dress them and push them in strollers. There were only a couple that tolerated that, but the ones that did were always limp and let the girls shove their little arms and legs into dresses and they wore bonnets!

MS – your photo of the red monkey and the kitten says so much. The human part of this world could – SHOULD – learn so much from it.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love.

    Just beautiful. (Sorry, KZ!)

    Good Monday (Oxymoron?)

Koko the gorilla loved his kittens. Some people thought it was sweet. I agree KZ-I just do not like monkeys or clowns for that matter. Not sure if they are related but whatever… I don’t know what they were selling but when I saw that puppy/monkey/baby I was creeped out too.

MS-is that a Maori image of 2016? I love the colors. That wee monkey is so cute I had to find out more

Lady Gaga has a powerful voice and did a great job performing the national anthem. Bruno Mars stole the show!

I can see your grandkids trying to put doll clothes on the kittens.

Good morning – happy year of the monkey!
So I guess Roberta’s Ranch and Joan’s Backyard Cat Cafe has morphed into Joan’s Junction. Okie dokie!
Dewey was late for breakfast again, and no sooner did I have his plate wrapped and on top of the fridge (Comet seems to see nothing wrong with eating food for the homeless, sigh) when he showed up. Reinforced the straw in the shelters to get ready for light snow today and tomorrow and arctic temps later in the week.
Ok, so I’m not alone with the puppybabymonkey commercial sentiment. One Bud commercial had a glimpse of the Clydesdales, and I got all excited, only to not see them again. The Doritos commercial with the ultrasound was pretty funny. And anything with Christopher Walken is alright by me!
ConCATS, Bronco’s! Contrary to Internet whining, I enjoyed the game, it wasn’t crazy one-sided.
PG, that video clip from yesterday is adorable!

Kits have decorated the café in purry style!

Yum – I could go for Chinese today…soon!
Waves w/wishes for all to have a better than expected start to MOanday!
It’s back to winter in my n’hood…40’s yesterday – 30 today & dropping all week to teens by Weds/Yay – NOT!

OK, need java & back to part 1 day 1’s fun…mwah, smooch for Tux…later!

JJ, Dorry would eat any food available, I’m not sure that he has any sense of compassion whatsoever LOL. Certainly not for me!
Did not watch Superbowl, prob glad that I missed out on that ad.
I too do not purrticularly like monkeys with their screeching and howling and whatnot. But that’s the animal selected for 2016 Chinese New Year so have to go with it. *Sigh* Pics, though are cute IMHO. I also loathe clowns, not to a phobic extent, just don’t like them or find them or any sort of slapstick humour funny.
Bitterly cold outside esp when I left for gym at o’dark thirty. Car stopped to diss me for walking on road, so I politely told driver that sidewalks are frozen over, and that slipping on ice is not in my plan. I am watching out for cars and walking in a facing direction. Sheesh! But short of an APB not venturing out again today.

Joan’s Junction! Miss Gaea and LilBit Guy are food hogs so I have to put Miss Moppets’ food up or they will eat it. Miss Moppet is my skinny minny so she can eat all the food I put out for her.

Sorry for nasty weather your way, JK and KJ. Yes, you don’t want to walk on icy sidewalks and drivers should be aware of the ice. I’m glad you made it to early A.M. spin class.

I found a link to the Chinese Zodiac. I’m a tiger-what are you?
    http://www.travelchinaguide.com/intro/social_customs/zodiac/

My fave commercial was with Kevin Hart as the dad who loaned his Hyundai to his daughters’ date.

Pat and me are taking Miss Maggie for walk instead of swimming. Miss Maggie is her Bichon Frise who is tired of the backyard.

Well PG, according to Chinese Zodiac this is me:
Year of the Sheep / Goat / Ram
… Sheep (goat, or ram) is (sic) among the animals that people like most. It is gentle and calm. Since ancient times, people have learned to use its fleece to make writing brushes and skin to keep warm. The white cute creature often reminds people of beautiful things.
“Gentle and calm” – so not me – unless connection to sheep via knitting counts LOL.
For what it’s worth my purrsonality is more in keeping with astrological sign – Scorpio – very! *wink*

Thanks for the Chinese Zodiac Link PG – remembered the same!
    horse
    Yes, I am a horse! 😉
Not in the mode to take walk today – too damp/slippery!
I will head out to purrfect patio instead.
Hey Tux, lets do it – to the lounge chair!
Ah, this is great – have coffee, biscotti – special kit…Purrrrrzzzzz…zzz

I’m a dragon! Sorry about the slippery/cold weather, JK & KJ. I walked down to the mailboxes then a bit further to the lake but couldn’t cross the dam because of the snow/ice and I was only wearing sneakers.
Thanks for getting the fun New Years decorations to the TDK lounge, JK, very festive!
Well KJ, I would rather walk in the road and watch for cars (’cause they aren’t watching out for you!) than penguin-walk on the icy sidewalks.
PG, that commercial was pretty funny! “So what did you guys do tonight?” Heh.

Well, I’m a Rabbit . . . and yes, I’ve heard the jokes before! Mind, I’m not sure being a Ram in the other version is much better.

    Good morning all.
KJ, apparently that wee monkey is a finger monkey. Such a wee scrap of cuteness.
I use the “img” copy paste function to post my pics here. I don’t have any problems with it.
ECB, I hope your Super Bowl tummy settles down completely soon.
I have seen a few of the SB commercials and wasn’t impressed either- where were the Budweiser Clydesdales or did I miss them?
Wow did Lady Gaga show what she is made of, her superb voice was shown beautifully with the piano for accompaniment. It’s not often we get to hear how great it is with the way music is arranged today.
CWS I agree with you about the human part of this world needing to learn to be like the kitten and monkey. Tolerance and understanding and love sweet love. I sense an earworm.
    🙂
PG, no that isn’t a Maori image but something I saw and liked mainly because it was red. Just caught my eye. Oh I am with you on the clowns PG, I just don’t like them and don’t see them as humorous at all but rather silly and not even entertaining silly either. Aha I see KJ and I think alike on clowns and slapstick.
JJ, I love the name Joan’s Junction, it has a great feel to it. LOL at Comet thinking nothing of eating food for the homeless.
JK, love the TDK Cafe decorations. 🙂
Keep safe KJ while out walking places that are icy.
    I am a rooster –
Rooster is almost the epitome of fidelity and punctuality. For ancestors who had no alarm clocks, the crowing was significant, as it could awaken people to get up and start to work. In Chinese culture, another symbolic meaning of chicken carries is exorcising evil spirits.
In the other version I am a goat. Hmmmmm
