I agree with you guys, floodwaters are not to be messed with. I had to walk next door when living down the valley. Stayed away from the street, it was a raging river. The driveway had a strong current but the real challenge was keeping from slipping when I walked on the grass. Dad watched me like a hawk! When we were picked up by the National Guard, their truck got stuck and everyone had to be re-rescued!
Favorite teacher? That’s a toughie. A few come to mind, plus a few that were memorable in their own way. Mid school math teacher was the meanest guy ever – had issues as a paratrooper in the war, but I still think of him when I correctly write a check. Had a science teacher who was quite political – learned a lot about town history from her. Typing teacher, “F F F space, J J J space. Working, not talking!, Pick up your trash!” taught skills I’m using at this moment. Music teacher who helped me find my voice. Color guard instructor who threatened to wrap a flagpole around my neck! Art teacher who found that wee bit of creativity in me. And of course, Mom. Learned how much teachers do on their own time, and how much of their own money the spend. After dinner, and after getting all us kids squared away, the kitchen table would be her work space, with lesson plans and papers to grade and drawings to look at. She taught 2nd & 3rd grade. Took me to the school supply store every summer where I got to pick out one thing. I still have the prism, still just as enamored with it!

Wow, that is scary – floodwaters.
Don’t have much cause of alarm around here too often – just when the river rises after torrential rains – usually in Spring/Summer.

Thanks for the teacher share Joan.

Agree, thankful for all my mom taught me thru the years – Esp. Art/Music – her interest in both opened up a new world of creative
    expression for me.
In the academic world: HS English teacher shared more than just English lesson as life’s lessons!
Plus many of the people have met/interacted with along my path of life thus far.
(Including TDK peeps w/so much Kitteh knowledge/fun shared thru the years.)

OK, it’s patio time, will sneak out & relax for a few. To the lounge chair Tux…ah, this is the life eh kit?!

cute pics, and great links as always, Deb!

busy Monday for me, always seems to be the hardest file on Mondays’ or maybe is just me still in weekend mode! LOL … oh well, got it done, and looking forward to ‘Hazel’ coming tomorrow, altho I can’t see her making any progress in either of the childrens’ rooms, as they are both filled with stuff everywhere! …. Son’s to be gone in two weeks, then dau in Nov. I’m trying to be ‘nice’ about the mess, as long as it doesn’t encroach outside their respective rooms ….
Son bought Venus a ‘hotdog’ costume for Halloween! she’s hilarious, nothing seems to bother her! …. Luna sniffed her down and looked at her like ‘seriously, you’re gonna where that?’ LOL

Yep, I hear ya, JK. We learn something from so many people we cross paths with, and hopefully we teach a bit along the way too.
Wow, AV, our parents had the same occupations, cool! So you probably get the whole creative and analytical combo!
Venus, you are absolutely precious – and a good sport too!
JK posted a recipe for apple brown betty in the October thread and the agency kits are whipping up some. There’s vanilla ice cream to go with it too. *waits patiently on the patio, spoon in hand*

Good morning all. It'[s a fantastic warm sunny day here. I have been outside emptying all my planters of soil ready to put new soil in for this years Summer peppers and tomatoes. HRH Shadz has been assisting me- rolling on the deck next to me. 😀

My favourite teacher had to be my first teacher, she had been at the school so long she taught entire families and what a caring patient lady she was. My next favourite(I use the term loosely)was my biology teacher in high school. He challenged me each and every lesson on a subject that was my favourite, the more he challenged the more I learned and many a time I was able to challenge him. That was teaching at it’s best for me.

Mum was a Mum, dressmaker and anything else she was requires to be and Dad was an engineer. There seems to be a few of them here and I married one too.
Saw the terrible flooding in SC and NJ on the news last night, hope it hasn’t caused too much damage.
AV, Venus is a very patient cat and also looks super cute in her costume. She and son must have a wonderful trusting relationship for her to be happy with him dressing her up. Have to LOL at Luna’s thoughts on the situation. Some cats are just aloof while others are quite the opposite.

The lawns have had their first mowing of Spring and look so good, HRH Shadz was refusing to walk on the grass as they were too long. Fussy cat.
I’ve been busy weeding under the grapevines and disturbed a skink several times. I hope it returns when I am done with the weeding. Have already had to start destroying Asian paper wasp nests before they can build them as the wasps attack and kill the Monarch butterfly caterpillars and my milkweed plant is covered in miniscule caterpillar eggs so I am hoping for a great breeding season this year after last years dismal three butterflies.
HRH is eating really well now and putting on weight so I think she may have had worms and her regular de-worming dealt to them.
Did I mention that today is beautiful and hot. 🙄
