Afternoon all, I have been AWOL for the weekend while Airy was visiting. Put her on the plane back home early this afternoon after a wonderful weekend with her. Welcomed other daughter Meegz back from Airy’s city lastnight. Typical that they both chose the same weekend to be away.
JJ saw that you can a nasty cut finger on a can, ouch! they hurt. I somehow jabbed the point of a knife into my thumb while I was doing the dishes and had a couple of days of pain from it but all is good now. Mac, you certainly did have a little impromptu adventure but you are a smart boy and know where you are safe and loved not to mention well fed.

hope your finger is alright ive actually opened up my small finger on a pull lid tin of cat food, pulled it the wrong way, ever since then its hardwired into me to only open pull lids a certain way 🙂

Good morning! Thanks for the Memorial Day pics, KJ. Very sobering to remember lives given for our freedom on this day.

Thanks for the birthday pics for younger son, PG and KJ. I showed him this morning. He really had a lovely birthday.

We have a short short week this week. Hubby is taking Friday off so we can leave Thursday evening to visit his folks in Central FL for a long weekend. The kits will have a pet sitter. I’m cleaning tough house today and regular Wednesday house so the week will fly by. Thursday morning I think I’ll try to bake something yummy to take to MIL…maybe a pound cake.

Yes, it’s a sobering thought to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. People and animals–service dogs and war horses and many others. I am so deeply touched by their sacrifice. Thank you.

I’m baaaaaaaaaack ………… visit with Son in Las Vegas was wonderful! …. we did a road trip to Zion Nat’l Park where Son and Mr. AV hiked the Virgin river canyon …. amazing! …. so nice to see our baby …. he’s doing well, and at a fancy dinner with his bosses and co-workers, each sought us out to personally tell us how great Son is doing and what a wonderful person they find him to be …. we were so proud 🙂

Back home and trying to decompress and get time zone oriented …. hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, I see JJ cut her finger- ouchie, I’ve done that so many times! LOL
MS, nice to see both Daughters, even if in separate visits! LOL …. hard to get the whole family together these days, I can certainly relate!
Memorial day is a wonderful celebration of our vets, I have many from all generations from our family ….. Dau is marrying a two tour Iraq vet …..
Have a great day all, check in later!

Good morning – nice to see MS and AV spend quality time with the kids. Glad son had a nice b-day, ECB. Get that cleaning done so you’re that much closer to your long weekend!
Thanks for the well wishes. The cut is on the inside of the joint of my thumb, ouch! Down to a Hello Kitty band aid now though, and it looks like I’m out of the woods for infection.
The second wave of family arrived yesterday, in the form of niece, hubby and their 3 year old twin tornadoes! Sister (former TDKr Jroc) should be landing at Newark Airport any time now.
A few of us went to the cemetery in town the other day. Boy Scouts put flags on the grave markers of veterans. My father’s marker was missed a few years because it has the Boy Scout emblem on it. Now it bears a small sticker so that those who place flags on markers know to put one there. We also found my grandparents’ gravestone, my grandfather’s military marker, and saw many stones dating back to the 1700’s. A lot are impossible to read, some are broken with age, and the church burned in the ’30s, leaving several gravestones permanently blackened. We saw some beautiful newer stones, as well as beautiful memorials honoring the town’s war dead.
Freedom is not free, but we celebrate to honor what our soldiers fought for. Have a great day everyone!

A good Memorial Day to our US friends – In Canada, as throughout the Commonwealth, veterans who died in service and those who are still living or who died of natural causes are all honoured on Remembrance Day, the 11th of November.

And I thought that Cat Cafés were the latest rage. Just heard on news that some guy in Frisco is opening the “Power Plant.” As name suggests it’s a gym where members can imbibe the weed to enhance their workout. Guy says that it gives one more focus and does not make one giggly or zoned out. Hmmm … My spin class could sure use some chillin’ as having fired previous co-ordinator they’ve given someone else a short-term contract with mandate to sort the spin class issues out. I speak to the centre’s leadership when I have an issue, and thus get results, most peeps gripe to each other, ergo nothing gets done. *Sigh*
Wondering if the oft-recommended goat’s milk would work it’s miracle on this kit – as KJ – as it does on kitties???
Just if it would help settle my guts. We are not quite there yet, and knowing why doesn’t make it disappear. I tried buttermilk which was OK, sadly my fave coffee is not, it just tastes like warm dishwater, and I bought the darkest roast. If the milk is gentle and nutritious for kits, well I srsly believe that I’m part kit, so purrhaps. Might have Dorry glomming all over me when I pour it out, another consideration.

I’m glad everyone had an enjoyable weekend with family and friends. Did HRH enjoy her sisters visit?

Goats’ milk is just as effective for peeps KJ. Here’s some info to help you make a decision:

I know how I feel after a bud/candy or two and it definitely make we want to work out.

KJ, my daughter had a ‘bug’ a few years back and just couldn’t shake it’s ill affects. I bought yogurt — the Greek kind with all of the different kinds of good gut bugs in it and she started feeling better immediately. I was skeptical when I got it, but was amazed that she started feeling better so fast.

For sure KZ, Greek yogurt is still a go, also has mucho protein in it.
PG, tks for info on goat’s milk. Going to run some natural options by my doc as tomorrow. Printed article for her. Have to make sure that there is no conflict with other things, think not as she said probiotic is OK. She should be cool with it, she just wants for me to feel like myself and very imp for me to be able to keep food down. All I know is that I tried anti-nausea script and felt soooo horrible as 2 wkd back. This wknd tried Gravol which did nothing ‘cept make me feel weirdly dopey and even more nauseated into the bargain. So far sipping (caffeinated) fennel/peppermint/ginger tea with loads of honey is not bad.
And thanks for the other info too – based I assume on your expertise hehehe. Just waitin’ on PM Justin to legalize weed. Candies, how convenient as I don’t think I’d want to smoke it being smoke and all that.

I had some Woolwich dairy “wholesome goat” spreadable cheese. It is only 9% fat (low for such a cheese), by the way it is Kosher, the COR certification. The Greek-type yoghurt I buy is also goat or ewe. I really am a cat; cow’s milk plays havoc with my gut, and when I was small I had a very severe cow-milk allergy (I’m a boomer, and to get back to Memorial day, little boxes or bottles of milk were a symbol of postwar prosperity).

Tks for cheese info lagatta. Have to check it out in grocery with big kosher section, usually IGA has good choice at certain locations. Spread might be a thought, as feta cheese is too crumbly for my taste. I too recall having milkman and milk being delivered in huge glass bottles, surprised that more of them didn’t break! 😮
