Memorial Day is dedicated to service men and women who gave their lives for freedom and country. It is also a time to remember loved ones who have passed away.

Well, apparently my alter ego is Wonder Woman!
My cats had a blast in TDK land this weekend! The little white flash, of course, stayed home.
My new great nephew went home yesterday. Dad dressed him in a wee baseball uniform! He lives clear across the country on the west coast. Little William has awesome parents.
It’s a rainy Memorial Day here in Jersey, but it promises to clear up later. I’m remembering my drum corps days, which were filled with parades and services. Time of my life.

Your drum corps days sound like such fun JJ! I loved being in special groups in school, art class exhibitions and choir for performances–such excitement and fun!

We got rain overnight, but not much but the sun is shining now. Mr. KZ wants to mow hay today but is sitting on the fence about it since they are talking like a chance of a shower tonight and tomorrow night after midnight. Oh well, if you are talking about a ‘chance’, then mow the darned stuff. It’s so hard being a farmer and dealing with the ‘perfect’ weather. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I am being lazy today and not doing a cook out. It sounds like fun, but the work of it doesn’t so….everyone is on their own. I have to cook most times 5 days a week, 3 meals a day–feels good not to HAVE to do it.
However, the cats have been poking me early these last few days in the morning to get up and feed them. At least I don’t have to cook their food too! ๐Ÿ˜›

Hi guys! Youngest son was born Memorial Day weekend which means sometimes his birthday falls on Memorial Day. And today it does….twelve years old! Thankfully, my kids like quiet birthdays, so not much for me to do after the cake was baked. (And I must say, I have the BEST yellow cake/buttercream frosting recipe!)

Hope everyone is having a happy holiday.

Happy 12th b-day to your son, ECB! I’m sure that your cake will be way better – for a start considering it’s genuine – but even so. Then again one can never have too many cakes! ๐Ÿ™‚ (Hope son likes chocolate!)

Doesn’t the cake server look like that now back into style vintage “jadeite” that we all chatted about a while back? It’s quite pretty. We had a bunch of dinnerware in what I now think was the stuff as it was bought way long ago. That was in our country place so no idea where it now resides. Do not for an instant imagine “country place” to be anything close to a manor house LOL. I hated it there! I’m srsly a city grrrl!

Wonder Woman – you’re surpurrised JJ?
Mazal Tov and Congrats on welcoming William to the family. Is he JRoc’s grandson or your bro’s? Being so close in age purrhaps he and Tyler will become pals. Guess I’m getting way ahead of myself LOL.

So Aslan didn’t get to go to the ‘nip fest? There’s time for that when he’s a wee bit older hehehe.

I’m just checking out the new leader of our Conservative Party. he seems OK, but then I’m quite apolitical, my policy being anyone but “Posh Boy” AKA Justin (and wife, the one who “needed” xtra staff – to pick-up her new outfits? – and 2 nannies for 3 kids.) *Sheesh* I do like fact that although Conservative leader is staunch RC, he seems willing not to have his religious beliefs impact his policies. Still it’s way early days. OK time to get off my soaking wet “outdoor” soapbox.

Pouring out here, really neat to be in with TV/knitting/kit. 2-day hol as Wed/Thurs. Fortunately I don’t do the entertaining thing, or go out to be entertained either. N is coming by on Wed so this should be fun as we always find shenanigans to be discovered. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy Birthday to your son, ECB! Hope the day has been a good one. The cake sounds delicious!
Yep, no wild parties for the white flash just yet. Bad enough he found a few nip toys around the house!
Baby William is indeed Jroc’s grandson. I do hope that despite the miles between them, he and Tyler will be close. Technology will probably play a big role in this young generation. The twins, their 4 year old cousins, are in the Midwest, so maybe they will have gatherings in each area of the country from time to time.
Gotta say, I like being Wonder Woman – got a cool name on one of these things this time!
We had a little indoor picnic at mom’s today. Not feasible to get her outside. As we drove through the flag-lined streets of our hometown, hubby recalled going to see the parade over the years. I noted that I’d never seen the parade, as I was always in it!

PG, still hoping that day by day you feel better! Not my call whatsoever, but when you are close to becoming more pain free and relatively mobile, you might want to consider seeing a physio. A muscle strain means that said muscle does not get used much during recovery and a bit of treatment/prescribed exercises can get said muscle back in working order.

For sure I’m a laypurrson, but physio has worked wonders for me with various injuries. Now quite some time ago I pulled a hamstring in a “Jane Fonda” bounce/bounce type class (yes that long ago.) Saw a doc with an interest in the new field of sports med and all I was told was to lie flat for 4 days. I’m basically not aware if it, yet that hamstring is still not quite as it should be.

Just trying to help fellow TDKer and I do know of what I speak. Totally up to you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good afternoon all. It was a dull grey Tuesday but now the sun has come out. I spent some of the morning dealing with another bunny that Mr MS brought home. HRH is certainly happy to eat bunny at the moment, which is good as she has become very fussy, what was fine to eat one day is ‘evil’ the next day.
PG, good link on the difference between Memorial day and Veterans Day. We have just ANZAC Day here.
JJ, Williams going home layette sounds cute. PS, so you have an invisible plane?
KZ, hay making time is always wrought with indecision. To mow or not to mow, that is the question. How do you bale the hay, conventional bales or large round ones. I’ve helped many times over the years with conventional ales that you then stacked and stored in the hay barn. Hot heavy sneeze inducing work but great when them family/friends all help out.
I hear you on the cooking KZ, now with Mr MS working out in the country I have to make sure he has good food every day and a food flask on a frosty day as well as a thermos of tea. I have just put on a slow cooker of chicken cacciatore adapted with masses of vegetables in it so it will go much further and some of my own smoked paprika to add that warm flavour.
ECB, birthday wishes to your youngest.

PG, I hope that your leg is healing and not giving you too much pain.
