Good morning! Oh my, I love the “send me to the lady” pic… Wonder if he picked out the one he knew would take him home. :).

Well, Emily’s very bad day has begun. At 6:30, instead of her breakfast, she got crated up. :(. Hubby took her to the vet on his way to work. I’ll pick her up after cleaning my tough house. No food plus vet equals a double whammy. Poor girl. But her mouth will feel better so it’s all worth it. She doesn’t understand that, of course. And this is her first time being left at the vet. She was already spayed when we got her and this is her first dental.

Joan, I love that you and hubby got to dine lakeside three times! I love a nice meal with a nice view, so sounds like a perfect weekend to me. And we definitely have a date for the zoo if you make it to Jax.

My boys have already gotten started on school. They want to try and finish before our cleaning, because tough house client is the one who likes to bake and do crafts with them. But she knows they bring schoolwork too.

Good morning! Me too Joan–what ECB said about dining out 3 times out on the lake–now that’s what I call stretching an anniversary out and enjoying it! It’s like a birthday of sorts, well the birth of your marriage! Most times I don’t have to cook, it a cause for celebration to me. It’s not that I don’t like to cook, I actually love it, but planning meals with a one year old and just getting it fixed is a feat in itself. I’m going to try and get some salsa made today as my tomatoes are all ripening all at once and I have a recipe called Texas Caviar that is so delicious! It’s almost like a gazpacho, but enhanced! It’s good enough to eat with a spoon!
ECB, keep us posted on Emily–I hate when my cats have to go to the vet. I’m on the lookout for a new one anyway. Trouble is, I’m going to have to travel about a half hour north or south whichever one I decide. Granddaughters are doing extremely well this year getting up for school, their attitudes are so improved about it, and it makes it so much easier on everyone!
AV, good luck on getting your work caught up, I don’t like surprises like that either!
KJ, LOVE the pics especially the virgin before toga….he looks so perplexed!

ECB, hope that all goes well for Miss Emily’s dental.
AV, “nuff said” hehehe, I remember Toga Party Times too. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Speaking of which I should do a sheet count as Dorry is enamoured of any party idea. So if he happens to arrive thru anyone’s wormhole clad in one of my 800-count pillowcases (right!) just send him back posthaste!
Morning KZ, you do have a lot on your plate (pun intended) to have to worry about cooking as well. And here I am where for most part cooking is just not all that fun for me. *Sighs* Although I did put up those teensy baby potatoes to boil in micro as basis for smashed potatoes with cheese. They’re quartered, boiled, tossed with oil and seasonings, baked for a while, then cheese liberally tossed over them and baked some more.

Oh yum, KJ. Potatoes are one of life’s greatest pleasures, IMO. And recently I’ve learned more about how good they are for you too. Did you know they provide good vitamin C?

I’m the same way, KZ. Love cooking, but love a break from the routine too.

The vet called before she started pulling teeth. Emily will be left with just three teeth (one on top and two on bottom, I think) on each side behind the canines (fine with me). The vet had good reasons for leaving the ones she’s leaving. X-Rays show the canines are starting to have resorption at the tips of the roots. So that will progress and she will need more extractions in the future. But extracting strong healthy (which they still are) canines is risky business…could break something like her jaw because the roots go so deep. Once the roots dissolve a bit more, they can do a crown amputation. So, we both hate that we have to leave teeth that will be getting progressively worse, but really the best option. And everything that’s causing her pain now will be gone.

Poor Miss Emily having to go through so much, ECB. But in the long run she will be pain free. Hard on you, though. Yup re potatoes, recently found out that best plan is to leave skin on as nutrients are hidden just under skin. Same for sweet potatoes. So now I know!
Seems weather more pleasant today as warm but not sickeningly hot and humid. Expecting rain/storms tonight, maybe. Have been waiting on an editing job for days. Client writes then I in effect enhance/rewrite. Would have been easier all told if client had just given me entire job from outset, would have cost more, but far less stress on client, as he would give me deadline and forget about it. Have tried to explain this more than once, and very nice person, but I can’t be trying to sell this IMHO efficient idea over again. I’m off to gym and when I get project it will take me very little time and whatever. Jut minorly frustrating when I see a better way and others don’t.
BTW and so not a biggie. Woman who dissed me along with others in spin class has been “spoken to” and allegedly this sort of annoyance will not happen again. I appreciate it when staff actually takes action.

Good morning – the ginger toga cat is so handsome!
Thoughts are with Emily today. Poor girl, she doesn’t understand. Maybe the fabulous TDK comfort blankie will in some way help. Great that the kids are starting on schoolwork so as to maybe get some kitchen time in with tough house client!
May your productivity be high and stress/problem level be low, AV.
    Texas Caviar, eh, KZ? Yum!
Hubby and I were remembering our wedding day and those 3 little girls – my nieces – looking absolutely adorable. Now they’re all grown up. 2 are married and the 3rd is getting married next week! She lives on the west coast and is having a small ceremony at a winery with parents, siblings and bffs. She did send an invitation to her grandmother, though. Of course mom can’t/won’t travel, but getting the invitation was all she needed.
No sign of Dorry here, KJ. Comet wants to know what a toga is. I changed the subject. Your potatoes sound delicious!
MS, your mum’s glory box sounds like a time capsule! Love the fabulous hair pic in yesterday’s thread.

    Morning All and Night MS,

Toga, toga !! Cool Theme KJ. I was stationed in Naples and went to Pompeii. It’s beautiful and tragic. The suddenness of Vesuvio did leave a history. An interesting fact is there are rooms that have sexually explicit murals. It’s believed they were for, um, working women…and working men.

    Leisure after business

Aah, sweet Emily getting her teeth cleaned. ๐Ÿ™ Paws crossed my babies don’t need dentals anytime soon. My Buggabear (in the Meadow) needed dental fairly often and I tried to explain it but…

It’s cool that your client likes to do activities with your boys. My Alia started High School this year. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Z started at a new elementary school last week. They moved him to the new school because he was getting in trouble at his old school. They had so many students he could get away with a lot. This new school doesn’t have so many students. I am glad school has started in Denver because he kids next door (demon spawn) are in school, yea. OK, that’s not nice.

That’s so great you have a wonderful view for al fresco dinner, Joan.

I cleaned the garage yesterday. I’m not sure what to do today.

I admire your knitting, KJ. It’s great that you make clothes for yourself.

    Interesting article on Maple Syrup.

    Have a happy ~

Hi Deb, How are you feeling today?

So I had my mini lunchtime walk:
    Phlox
Pretty phlox…my arm added for interest/LOL

Hope your day is progressing well.
Chugging along here, wow already part 2 day 1 as today’s fun.
Hey Tux, let’s catch a few zzzs with purrs out on the patio ok….ah, purrrr, zzzz…purrrzzzz

JK, your arm makes the picture purrfect! Interesting bracelet!
PG, you are for sure a world traveller. My expeditions are of the armchair kind, courtesy TV/Rick Steeves/History Channel LOL. Did see doc on Pompeii and Herculaneum pre-volcanic eruption and yup – quite explicit – Dorry had to avert his eyes! White kit looks like a “working kitty” lounging while awaiting next client. Just sayin’. ๐Ÿ˜‰
It is fun deciding that I “need” sweater X in colour/style Y and then making it. Someone mentioned that it’s probably cheaper to buy ready-made, not re cost of yarn, which I get on sale online, but calculation of hours involved. Guess she didn’t get the point that the time is not a factor as it’s IMHO time well spent, de-stressor and hobby.
Need I store my Quebec-made maple syrup under lock and key? Will there be an embargo? Like prohibition? (When US peeps scored their booze from Canada.) Maple syrup speakeasys??? “Hernando’s Hideaway?” *Shudders!*
Back to togas. My father was of a generation that used handkerchiefs in lieu of tissues. Loads of ironing, but whatever. I used to sneak them out of his dresser, cut holes in them and make some neat Greco/Roman/Egyptian goddess outfits for my Barbie dolls. Then put handkerchiefs back and figured he wouldn’t notice. LOL.
Still waiting for letter edit to arrive. Don’t much care as I’ve stipulated that I don’t do all-nighters as not paid enough. This gives me opp to visit my fave place as Cafรฉ while waiting for my manicure to dry.

Thanks KJ. Series of stretch bracelets from little friend a while ago. Best for ‘puter, office filing, carrying shoe boxes…not much to catch on to! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hee hee…Syrup Speakeasy/LOL!
Thought on manicures: Peeps usu come into shoe place after get pedicure from across street – looking for showy sandals to show off new tootsie color. Sad, this season is coming to end again…fashion boots are on the agenda as hot footwear this season! (Nope not snow boots yet! ) ๐Ÿ˜‰

OK, time for a treat…how about a snow cone…hmm, wonder if the cafรฉ kits can rustle one up for moi!

Wow, KJ, your DIY inclinations started early. That’s too funny about the doll togas!

Pompeii would be interesting to visit. I love ancient ruin type stuff.

Well, they called mid afternoon to let me know Emily needs to spend the night at the vet. Her extractions were so extensive that they need to do the serious pain relief on a drip tonight. Then her pain patch will kick in tomorrow. I think we’ll get to bring her home tomorrow morning when we drop Leo off. I was so looking forward to picking her up but I know it’s for the best. Remembering how “out of it” Lucy was after major extractions makes me pretty sure Emily won’t be too aware of what’s going on (not too homesick I hope).

So tomorrow morning when I leave with Leo, Eko will be the only cat in the house for a while. He’s going to think its the apocalypse or something…

JK, your picture is lovely! Nice to stop and see the flowers while they’re here! I’m up for a snow cone too, though it looks like the TDK kitties have gotten carried away yet again and are having a snowball fight outside the big glass doors on the snowy side of the cafรฉ!
Taking the time to make your own sweaters certainly seems like time well spent, KJ. You know the exact quality of the material, and there’s no other sweater quite like yours!
Like the cats standing for Cecli, rather, sitting, ’cause they’re cats and they’re lazy! Cecil would understand and approve.
While out walking earlier saw one of the black kitties strutting toward neighbor’s house with his prize catch: a snake! I checked it out when he put it down and kept my distance, as it was only stunned and while chatting with neighbor, said snake took off.
Summer can’t be over yet – my sunflowers haven’t bloomed yet! A few were bent way low the other day so I secured them upright and they look like they want to bloom soon. Hope the critters don’t get to all of them first, they already got one of my last little ones.
Must go see what’s for dinner tonight, since it won’t be served to me tonight!

Oh poor Emily! Yes, it’s for the best, and with an iv drip, she’ll probably be out of it and hopefully will dream the worst of it away. Poor Leo, ‘I’m next!’ and poor Eko, ‘They all left, I’m doomed!’

Joan, I feel for you having to scrounge up dinner. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Couldn’t you just skip straight ahead to that delicious sounding take home choco dessert?
JK, snow cone is missing one imp addy – Quebec Maple Syrup hehehe!
Cats standing for Cecil – he would understand as we do!
Yup, soon will ditch “wasting” polish on toesies once we’re into closed shoe season. ๐Ÿ™
Job came and done and sent. Client offered to pay “penalty” for the time that I spent waiting. Which I graciously accepted. Love editing anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚
ECB, hopefully Miss Emily will come through procedure with no recall whatsoever. As has thankfully happened to self in past. Not general anaesthesia, but IV with the “good” drugs! One sec I’m sorta getting zonked out, yet apprehensive, the next sec (seemingly) I’m waking up in recovery.
So neat that you can bring sons to tough house and they get to do crafts and baking. My friend/Hazel would love to bring son and I would have no prob as he’s so polite and loves to give Dorry a “workout” with toys, which I don’t do often enough. Only one prob, but srs. Son is highly allergic to kits, on last visit had attack and had to take Benadryl, very worriesome for us all. Thank goodness he was OK. And sofa bed as given to her had to be cleaned and re-upholstered (still a deal as free,) cat hairs everywhere and unseen!
