Karaoke is a form of entertainment, offered typically by bars and clubs, where peeps (and kits!) take turns singing into a microphone over prerecorded backing tracks. Could also be the source of the word “caterwauling.” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hahahahaaa, yes, the lionesses face is too funny! I do a lot of singing to my cats and to Avery and she (and they) sing with me and back at me a lot! That’s where I limit my abilities (except for the car with the music turned up loud) and I sound just great. I don’t think I will inflict my abilities on anyone during Karaoke night though….just sayin’! ๐Ÿ˜†

Beautiful sunny day today with temps warming up again this week after last week’s cooler ones. I enjoy the cool weather so I didn’t complain. Could have actually started the stove again, but was too lazy to do it much to the cats’ dismay. They were looking for warm laps a couple of those days anytime you tried to sit down.

Hope everyone is feeling better (PG, KJ) and no one has contracted any new ‘funk’, except for the MOANDAY blues!

I can’t really carry a tune, though the music guy back in high school said I have perfect pitch. Purrhaps a few singing lessons would have helped; I’ll blame him for not encouraging that. Comet sings much better than me.
It’s a chilly day here after some early morning sun. No woodburner yet, but probably tonight as well as tomorrow. Leela has retreated to an upstairs couch as she has given up on me.
So after not winning any of the Girl Scout fund raising drawings at the shelter yard sale, I got a call from the local garden center telling me I won their open house raffle! Woo-hoo!

“A man seeking a Penguin” hahaha Thanks KJ I needed that laugh.

I thought I was feeling better. I went out and watered the lawn and I wore myself out just moving the sprinkler around. Back to sleep and hopefully tomorrow. Thanks KZ.

Oh, Miss Gaea almost had a new home. I don’t know what was going outside, but around 5 a.m. she started pawing and walking on me. I finally knocked her off the bed and, of course, she’s in a pissy, hissy mood. *sigh*

AV- go to DIY website and type in cat tree. It has different styles and directions on building a cat tree. They use material around the house so it’s not too expensive.

    Thanks KZ!

Just conferred with nurse and as I’m seeing my doctor who’s actually a specialist, so in general knows way more than my GP about everything we will discuss my f-d up tummy then. A few pawsibilities but no one is stressing out at all ‘cept me. ๐Ÿ™ Plus factor in anxiety over appt which also makes me feel tense/crampy and there you go! Advised to stay on the tea/toast thing until then. It’s complicated and I am not going to go into my stuff on a public site, beyond TMI.

And yet I did a fantastic spin class! Point in time I feel OK, tired, but OK but not chancing it food-wise.

Get good rest PG. N was supposed to come but sounds like she has come down with some sort of flu or bad cold like you had. So I blew off some stress hazeling and will continue to do so and get an early night.

I’ve thrown Dorry off the bed when he gets overly boisterous and he has regained his emotional equilibrium. Quicker than I do. ๐Ÿ˜‰

MS gets credit for “penguin” pic it is very funny!

Karaoke – there are actually spin classes “somewhere” where each bike is set up with a mike and peeps sing along. I don’t need a mike, I just sing along. Today I added my voice to techno versions of “Sweet Dreams” (Eurythmics) and to “Dreams” (Fleetwood Mac). Most peeps don’t mind, I have a good voice and if they mind they can let me know.

AV, just for fun I googled “cat tree”. Lots of sites. They have some nice ones on sale at Petsmart (we do not have this store in CAD.) But I like PG’s DIY idea. Probably Scottie could put something together just by looking at pics on INet. Considering that he and Mr. AV have done srs reno on your house, should be relatively easy.

Thanks guys, for the suggestions! …. I did google cat trees, KJ and you’re right, TONS of sites! …. and PG, I also looked into materials for Mr. AV and handy Scottie to make one ….. but low in behold, Chewy.com (where I get A’tuins) food from had a MAJOR sale on cat trees and I got a 6′ high super duper one for $68! ….. seriously couldn’t build one for less (considering materials and time/labor to Scottie) …. shipping in 2-3 days, so should be here by the end of the week! …. We’ll probably adhere it to a corner of the porch for stability , but I think she will absolutely love it! girl likes to be high!

Wow AV, that’s awesome about the cat tree. I got my cats one from the same site–it’s a tall one and has 4 levels–they love it. Put it up against a cabinet that has a top and put a cat bed up there so Bowtie and Thumbalina take turns using the high bed! You can’t beat Chewy, mine was cheap too and I buy all my cat food and litter from there too. It’s usually here in one day!

Oh, I hope everybody knew I was being sarcastic when I said when I sang in the car and with my cats and Avery that I sounded great…. ๐Ÿ˜› Bahahahaaaa….I should have said that Avery and the cats don’t seem to MIND how I sound.. ๐Ÿ˜†

Good morning all. It is a public holiday here in NZ today as it is ANZAC Day. Anzac Day occurs on 25 April. It commemorates all New Zealanders killed in war and also honours returned servicemen and women. The date itself marks the anniversary of the landing of New Zealand and Australian soldiers โ€“ the Anzacs โ€“ on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915.
Both the girls attended Anzac dawn services in their respective cities. Mr MS and I didn’t attend but we were woken by the tromping of marching feet and the calling of orders from our local service about a half mile away as the crow flies and then the flight of planes going over as the sun rose.
    We will remember them.
Here is a great article http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/four-legs-good/91888755/how-cats-played-a-key-wartime-role

KZ I have found myself singing while in the car lately, who is going to hear and anyone seeing is past me quickly so I let rip and sing along with the radio and feel great. Had to LOL, was talking to Airy who has had laryngitis for several weeks now and her voice is very frog like still. She attempted to sing at this mornings Anzac service but said the croak that came out was awful so she stopped immediately. ๐Ÿ˜ณ We used to sing Rock a-bye-Baby to Shadz when she was a very sick kitty to calm her down and put her to sleep and when she is stressed now she loves to cuddle on a shoulder and have us sing that same tune to her.
We have a gorgeous sunny day again with a temp in the 20’sC forecast, just the breeze has a nip to it. Because the shops are shut until 1pm in respect it is quiet as far as traffic and people are enjoying the day.
I can sing – with accompaniment. Seems I didn’t inherit the family voice, one relative was a singer and used to train with Edward Elgar in the UK way back and my cousins daughter is training as an opera singer in NYC. At least I got the instrumental musical side though.
JJ, pitch perfect it excellent so you must be able to sing. Awwwwww Comet, Mama’s little singer.
Woohoo on the raffle win JJ. What do you get?
Waving to JK. I am road testing your Tuesday and so far so good.
PG, take life easy, spoil yourself and do things you only have to do until you have your strength back. Let your furkits snuggle you. OK, maybe not Miss Gaea at the moment. Shadz gets like that at times, something piques their interest outside, usually something they shouldn’t be involved in either. She’ll get over it.
KJ, good to see you are sticking to the basic and bland food for now. Hoope you have your appointment soon. Don’t use all your energy in spin class, you need it to get better and stronger too.
LOL, I liked the ‘penguin’ pic too, hesitated about posting it but thought WTH.
Woohoo AV, Caddy is getting her own big cat tree for the veranda. Caddy will be like a cat with two tails for a while.
Had to laugh when talking with Airy earlier. When they came back from the service she heard her roomy exclaiming over something and went to see what it was about. One of the two house cats had deposited a large dead rat on the floor. They are hoping it was the rodent that has been heard in the roof space lately. It’s that time of year that the mice and occasionally rats are coming inside to avoid the oncoming Winter.

MS, I salute all who served their country.

Today is also Holocaust Memorial Day and several events took place in Montreal. In Israel a siren wails and the country stops for a time, peeps even get out of their cars.
    http://time.com/4752432/holocaust-remembrance-day-israel/

Appt is tomorrow am so I’m getting up at 6:20 to get to 8:15 spin class. I’ll get to appt early but nurse says this is a better plan. And prior to stomach issue this appt stresses me out in a major way, so this is not helping.

And today, when I was waiting for call-back from nurse my *^%HJ phone deeked out on me. Grrrr! I don’t get many calls so haven’t bothered with call waiting, but today peeps would have gotten annoying busy signal for hrs! Think I fixed it by reattaching the jack wire that originally came with bdrm phone, which I had replaced with a white one to better match bed. *Sigh* And I placed the phone closer to the jack. If this doesn’t work my cell is on and there will be a not pretty call to phone company.

In my angst I yelled at Dorry and felt like total s**t. I cried and snuggled and apologized and he kissed me. I think/hope that I am forgiven. I am a sad case of late.

MS, I had a special song that I created for my first kitty, Nicky. Now that he resides in the Meadow I can’t bring myself to create one for Dorry, too many memories.

On a kitty note n’hood Basement Cat crossed my path. Too far away for me to tell if kit is girl/boy, but I’ve named it Tallulah or Tally which IMHO would be a neat name. And the other day I chatted with an n’hood boy and his new kit, a a 3-month callie named Patches. Family also has an older kit which he maintains is a callie but IMO is a tortie, very friendly and I’m not about to argue cat types with a little kid. Not treading on the indoor/outdoor thing, and he is keeping the kitten indoors (for now) but I wish that in the city peeps would keep their kits safe indoors. I get it when one has a yard, but there are so many “Lost Cat” postings throughout my n’hood and I am close to major intersections. Plus in today’s news alert about someone in another part of the city who is lacing cat food with rat poison and killing them. If I got my hands on that miscreant – I haven’t the words! ๐Ÿ˜ก ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

I saw Anzac Day on one of my calendars last week. I wonder why holocaust Remembrance Day wasn’t listed. Thank you for posting the article on cats in war, MS.
Sounds like you need to rest some more, PG, and avoid over exerting yourself. Good luck at the dr tomorrow, KJ. Dorry understands.
Yay on the cat tower score, AV!
I think the prize is a $50 gift cert. I was going to claim it today when I went down the mountain, but they looked busy. I like to take my time there and I had just bought ice cream! Though I’m thinking about a shrub, I’ve also still got my eye on that winged cat statue!

So much for an early night. *Sigh*

JJ, a $50 gift cert – kewel (BTW I stole that spelling from you LOL). By rights you should have that statue. And a shrub!

MS, just read cats in war article. Very touching. Teary-eyed about the kit who lost his life along with his hoomin crewmates. Esp impressed by the kit who “switched over to the Allies” and pic of kit being petted by Sir Winnie.

Off to finish watching last night’s ep of “Chicago Justice”, another excellent Dick Wolf sorta L&O spinoff IMHO. And knit a few rows. And then hopefully get some sleep.

Today is also Liberation Day (Il giorno della liberazione) in Italy. I knew a few old partisans there, but they have all died – of old age, not by being killed by Nazis/Fascists. I wasn’t around that long ago…

There is more than one day for Holocaust (or Shoah, or Nazi Genocide) day; some use the date of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, others the liberation of various camps.
