Love the theme and pics…poor Grumpy cat, she catches a bad rap with her crabby little face. I know she’s really not grumpy! At one point, I thought I might be a ‘professional’ volunteer, LOL! For years I volunteered at the grade school when my girls were there doing artwork for the kids and teachers, copying, laminating teachers papers, etc. tutoring, and working in the classrooms with the kids. Then as they got older, I joined a volunteer organization that worked with the fire department, as I grew up there since my dad was a firefighter. I ended up taking the volunteer level firefighting course and became a level 1 volunteer. If I had only known how much I loved helping on the ambulance and being a firefighter, I would have chosen it as a career. I could have become their first woman firefighter!

Good morning! I saw volunteerism at its finest at the shelter sale on Saturday. Yes I volunteered my time as well, but not nearly to the extent of the regulars. It was special to see it in the people who came and “shopped”, some digging deep into their pockets, all for the sake of the animals. All of the money raised goes to the animals, no administrative fees, no salaries, all for the animals.
Pouring rain here today in Jersey – these are the days that I love to be able to be home!

Good Day Everybody and night MS,

Lovely theme and pics KJ. There are a million reasons to volunteer but I think the most important is you make a difference because every person counts!

I agree KZ. I’m sure Tarder Sauce is a sweetie with a grump. I can’t decide if these showings are abuse or maybe I’m reading too much into it.
Well, my lilacs and daffodils survived the snow/rain/sleet over the weekend. Yea! It’s suppose to be good weather with occasional showers for the week.
I love to volunteer for the cats but I tend to get really involved and can easily piss off the staff.

Well, here’s my two cents worth:

The underground railroad network provides transportation for cats needing to get to adoptive purr parents across the country!

    Have a happy ~

So true – everyone makes a difference! You don’t have to be a full time volunteer, every bit counts!

Afternoon all! …. been a busy Monday here for me! …. first time I’ve had to check in!

I volunteer when/where I can … it’s harder working full time again, but pet shelters or artists schools are my venues of choice… Mr. AV told me about a cool article – it’s about some pet friendly motels that have partnered with local pet shelters ….. they have shelter pets on site, and when guests check in, they can have a pet of their choice stay with them for their stay …. if it works out and they bond, they can adopt the pet right there. What a great way for people to get to visit shelter pets! I thought that was a brilliant idea!

… glad your flowers made it thru, PG!

Good morning all, warm temps again today thank goodness. That taste of winter was quite unpleasant. HRH is rolling around outside in the sun while the waxeyes and sparrows feed on a banana & nashi.
Volunteering- did many years on school PTA’s and helping in class with reading.
PG I’m pleased your lilacs and daffodils survived the snow and hopefully they will be putting on a display soon.
Wow KZ, you certainly have some interesting volunteering behind you.
Ack ! Rain for you Joan. Grrrrrrr. At least it means you get to stay inside and cuddle your kits.

I’m late, I’m late, it’s going on just past eight!
For sure volunteers make the world a better and purrier place! PG, that pic of kitty underground railroad – good that I have tissues close to hand.
My own volunteer efforts are extension of what I do as freelancer if/when I get work. I translate from French to English for a contemporary music org, delightful peeps to work with. Bonus is that once a year or so they have budget for paying project and I am their go-to person. Plus free tickets if I want to attend concerts. The other org is a place that helps physically/mentally challenged Canadian immigrants. All their docs are done in French/English/and I believe Italian and Spanish. They do so much on shoestring funding and are so very appreciative. And my satisfaction coms from occupying my time and using my so-called skills.
Weather here sounds similar to Joan’s n’hood. Chilly, pouring for most of day, I’m still figuratively drying out. Peeps have sensibly more or less ditched their nekkedness for Winter-ish gear redux. Promises to stay like this all week.

Daffies and lilacs are tough flowers, and oh so beautiful! I have a few tulips as well that survived being found as bulbs by squirrels.
AV, that sounds awesome to have a resident pet to spend vacations with. We haven’t taken a vacay in a while, but when we did we always missed our kitties. There were a few residents we met over the years though, which eased our kitty homesickness. There was the kitten at the mini-golf place I mentioned recently. Also the time we were bringing our stuff into our ground level room and had the door propped open and a big orange kitty came in and made himself comfy. We found out he was named Bux, after the village of Buxton where we were staying, and he loved hanging out with the guests! Though we could escort him out at any time, we were happy with his company. There was the grey kitty who looked a lot like Shaddo who hung out on the porch of a place. Love meeting the local (kitties) when traveling!
Hey MS – hope you get to enjoy some nice fall weather for as long as possible. Glad HRH is pleased for the time being. I have to see if I can get some peas to plant. The spot is being taken over by dandelions and daylilies. I guess if the peas fail to grow I could make dandelion salad 🙂
Hi KJ – yes this weather is just lovely isn’t it? Not! Right now it’s foggy here with storms expected overnight. I often wish I knew another language. Retained some German from high school and have learned some Spanish just from reading labels as just about everything sold around here is in at least 2 languages.
