Morning KJ, lovely pictures as always 🙂

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/life/10610772/I-gave-my-eight-year-old-medical-cannabis

Feel for this Mom and her daughter, wish that more Doctors would embrace the use of Medical Cannabis (the liquid form) I had looked into it for my brother before he passed. Allegedly the liquid form helps with cancer, seizures and other medical conditions, doesn’t make one ‘high’ and reacts totally different from the dry leaf form.

Oh my, pardon my ignorance, but I didn’t know Canada had Thanksgiving in October. My favorite holiday. What’s it like in Canada, KJ?

Love the “vegan?” photo. Reminds me of the Everybody Loves Raymond episode where Marie is watching her cholesterol and decides to make tofurkey and all healthy stuff. Her poor sons are traumatized, as mine would be. :).

Morning all! ….. I have to tell you, the chocolate/cherry dump cake turned out delicious! ….. Mr. AV said it was absolutely decadent! …. and he loved the mint whipped cream 🙂

I did laugh at the two left feet boot buy, KJ! ….. I can see how that could easily happen!

… great decorating links, Deb, I’m still determined to make the ‘spider’ eggs

… EC, I loved that episode of Raymond too! ….. she is a funny lady, like Betty White funny! …. great comedic timing

    Morning AV and ECB 🙂

Are we having fun yet? Sitting here waiting for the powers to be to come in and turn off all of our power for the next 2-3 hours….oh what a boondoggle this will be 🙂

    Morning all!
Turn off all your power, Deb? But why? And just what are you supposed to do for next 2-3 hrs? *asked theoretically* Guess phones still work, but after that? This sounds like very much not fun!
ECB, Thanksgiving here is very different than in US, where I am told it’s almost as big a celebration as Xmas. Gov’t bldgs, banks, schools closed, day off for most, but not all, peeps. Stores open on case by case basis (as I’ll find out when I call shoe store in a bit LOL). Some peeps have a dinner, most not really, but no one generally complains about having 3-day wknd.

Shoe situation to be resolved LOL. Spoke with mgr and apologized for my “stupidity”. No prob, told me that cashier is supposed to ensure that purchase is in order, but having worked in dept stores for xtra cash in school days did not want cashier to take the blame, Strangely mgr cannot find box with 2 right feet, but did put aside a right foot boot for me. One thinks situation will “right” itself. Mgr apologized for me having to make a return trip, but going sorta in that area tomorrow so no biggie. That’s the other thing as on our Thanksgiving public transport runs on holiday schedule (tr real slow). As talking to myself and staff kits, will take myself out for now! L8R!

Didn’t see you come in Joan! Morning!
Do you get Columbus Day as hol?
Well, off to spin class and on way dump way heavy bag of formerly loved boots into donation bin. Conveniently (for shopping peeps like me) it’s located right around corner outside convenience store or as we call it in Québec, depanneur.

Well that was weird, wrote a post and when I hit submit, I was logged out, hmmm. Gremlins…
Anywho, hello everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving KJ! No holiday for me, but the kids have the day off.
Thank you for the links Deb. Enjoy that power outage. *she says sarcastically*
That vegan pic reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons when Marge tells the kids where they are going on vacation – the bird sanctuary! Not exactly the water park they were hoping for!
Jroc is safely back in Wisconsin after a lovely visit. I did not spend much time at home – pretty much just slept there and served the cats, so I have a fair amount of “Suzie Homemaker” stuff to do. It was worth it though!

Good day everyone, bc it’s not morning anymore, LOL! Federal holiday here, youngest daughter doesn’t have to work but kids have school. They don’t have school Thursday or Friday, some kind of teacher workday or some sort of ya ya that kids don’t have to be there for.
KJ, LOVE the pics above and ECB, I didn’t realize it was Thanksgiving Day in Canada either~oops! My ASPCA calendar said that this week is National Veterinary Technician week also! Thank you to all vet techs everywhere!
Joan so glad you got to visit with siblings, so hard to have them spread across the country. I only have one sister who lives close by. I am doing laundry today and finishing catching up on things around the house.
Deb, I do not like when the power goes out. Not too many years ago we had a severe ice storm that tore electric from the house. We had partial power, like 220 circuits where the water pump would run so we could flush the toilet and take showers (THANK YOU!!) but not 110 for lights, computer, etc. It was out for 9 (yes NINE!) days. We were not high on the priority list, we were the only ones out bc our tree collapsed on power line and there weren’t others like in a large grid. I am not a Mary Ingalls Wilder, “Little House on the Prairie” type of person. Was tired of playing cards and games by candle light, I wanted my computer and my life back! I was never so glad to see electric service workers in my life as I was that day the power came back on! I mean, how much family time can a person take!? No wonder people went to bed at dusk back in the old days….out of sheer boredom…LOL!

Hi KZ – I can totally identify with sheer boredom when the power is out. We went well over a week and school was closed for almost 2 weeks when superstorm sandy hit. Couldn’t go anywhere – all the roads had trees down – and there are areas around here where the damage is still visible – trees cut and felled so that wires could be repaired. Fortunately I would have made my dad, the ultimate Boy Scout, proud. Everything was ready to transfer to coolers WHEN the power went out (not IF). We had barrels of water at the ready and had full tanks on all vehicles. Charged cell phones and my kindle in the truck and since we had a phone line independent from cable, we were able to call out. Just had to plug a corded phone from the 80s in. (No caller id!) We had plenty of batteries to use in small lights. Hubby read till it got dark, then we played board (bored) games by dim light. On Halloween (which was cancelled, for the second year, the year before there was a blizzard), by the light of the fire, I read a few Poe stores aloud from my kindle. So as not to open the coolers too often, we lived partially on Halloween candy!
Oh and Comet discovered that the laser pointer is the BEST TOY EVER in a blackout!

Well, very quiet in Café, sound of gently snoring kits tanked out on turkey (as opposed to tofurkey LOL). Might do likewise, sans the turkey.
    Where’s JK? Where’s Buttons?
Blackouts, hate them, but keep my handy transistor radio/flashlight/candles close to hand. And can’t make coffee, so when they happen which is not often I consider that gas stove is optimal. At least phone works so I can call power company incessantly to ask when power will be back on, and laptop works on battery so technically I can work, but no I’Net access.
And yeah, big paws up for vet techs esp F at my vet’s and L, the receptionist, who put up with my somewhat obsessive concerns.

Thinking JK may have a holiday today. 🙂 Buttons? Dunno, maybe i-net probs.
Always good to have good, understanding vets and vet-techs.

…. yep, I’ve been through black-outs….. in 2004 when Charley/Ivan/Frances hurricanes ran through our area back to back, we lost power for 7 days! …. Luckily, we had a small generator, so we were above to keep 1 refrigerator going, a fan and 1 TV …. the kids slept in sleeping bags in our room, cause it had the fan, of course it was 100 degree Sept ….. Cuddles was with us back then, and Abby was actually born in the middle of one of those hurricanes …. a lot of breeders got hit in Eastern county ….. the Siamese rescue society rescued her and about 30 other meezers in that area….

…. LOL @ the tofurkey ….. I say a show on making that one time …. followed by a turducken ….. NEITHER appealed to me, I’m a traditionalists when it comes to Thanksgiving …. forget frying, forget brining, I just like the traditional roasted bird with a side of dressing and green beans 🙂

Well, I’m going to take a virtual swipe from the fountain and lounge by the TDK pool. So much to do, not much time. A bit worn out too – that doesn’t help!
    *steps over sleeping kitties*
Leela, Comet and Mac thought it was novel if me to show up before dark today!

Oh I’ve missed you guys 🙂 been so busy!! My cousin is over from NYC so I’ve been showing him around and homed a barn cat with my Mam too.. Poor white boy was surrendered by a lady that has cancer. He’s 4 years plus and the rescue neutered him.. They had him in cage rest after the op and then he escaped and found his way back to lady’s house.. So they had to home him even further away do my mam said she’d take him.. He’s massive too and all muscle ..

I have to catch up in all the cafés tomorrow .. Hope everyone one had a lovely weekend and had an even better start to the week ..

Just awoke from catnap with Dorry curled up with me on couch as furry company. Now up for a bit before going to bed for genuine sleep LOL. Good to see you Buttons! Sounds like nice visit with cousin. Very kind of you mother to take in the big white cat, but also so sad that his owner is ill and had to give him up and that he’d become so attached that he was able to escape and find his way home even while recovering from surgery, makes me all teary-eyed, but hopefully in time and with love he’ll come to feel comfortable in his new home.
