OK just for the record, I’ll willingly give up my watermelon to any and all comers. The way that I feel about them is the same way that some TDKers feel about bananas. Melons just don’t cooperate with me, honeydew, cantaloupe, whatever. I do like looking at pics of kits and watermelons, though. 😉

Good morning – the watermelon catapult cracks me up, as well as “meine wassermelon, meine!”
I enjoy watermelon, just got some the other day. Good way to stay hydrated. Saw a recipe recently about hollowing out a watermelon, then pouring in a mixture of jello mix, water and vodka.
My trio have their new collars on with their licenses. For the first time, Mac jingles! Up till now, he was wearing a black flea collar that I put on him last year. Leela looks beautiful in her hot pink collar, and Comet looks stunning in sky blue and Mac is sporting bright green.
Been watching all that rain by you, AV – glad you are safe but geez, you must feel waterlogged.
It’s a beautiful summer day here in Jersey!

Awww, bet your crew looks dashing and lovely in their new collars, Joan. The catapult one was my favorite. 🙂

Crazy about all the rain, AV. We’ve had more regular afternoon showers than usual, but nothing like you from the sound of it.

I did have a nice birthday. Oh, and I may have scored a cast iron skillet, AV style. :). I mentioned at lunch yesterday that I’d probably go to Wal mart and but a cast iron skillet for making fritattas. My mom said, “What size?” I said 10 or 12 inches. She said she’ll give me my great-grandmothers because she never uses it.

I LOVE cantaloupes and watermelons the best, but honeydews are just okay….
Another gorgeous day here. I already have the windows open for the cats and for the coolness before it gets too hot. Gavin ADORES sitting in the back window….. Awwww…
I was SO tired yesterday that I slept and slept… Fell asleep through so much of the Heartland Marathon… 🙁 Boy, was I wiped!! LOL At least I feel better today. Good thing as I must run out to do a few errands that I just cannot push off any longer.
WOW, AV…. so sorry about all that rain and flooding there…..

Morning all! Love cantaloupe, but watermelon and honeydew..meh. My cats love cantaloupe though!! When they know I’m cutting one up, they come running.
Tampa is crazy with all the rain AV, so glad you are okay.
I don’t have Avery today, her mommy called me very early this morning (in the middle of thunder and lightning) to tell me to go back to bed. I was so glad as we are all still fighting off this nasty virus. Mine is much better today though. It’s turned into bronchitis, but it’s actually breaking up and I’m coughing it out. I know, I know…TMI right!?
I have to get to the vets today to pick up some flea meds for the cats–all my inside ones too. Felt a flea crawling in my hair—I didn’t see it but how do you mistake that ‘feeling’? Ugh, Thumbalina was on the back of my chair and if I felt one, then I know the cats have to have them. Why can’t the bugs just stay outside? Do you guys treat your cats for them?
Well, off to the showers and out to do the things I can’t normally do when I have a baby in tow! Later!!

Remember to feed the birds/squirrels today!

Nice around here today after storms yesterday eve. Wow, it was HOT this weekend. Happy to be back in the low 80’s!
Wishing all a great start to new week!
Hey Tux, mwah – smooch for you/missed ya!
    Later…

Weather folks said Tampa had up to 11″ rain. When the soil is saturated it doesn’t have anywhere to go. There’s always the folks that drive into water “It didn’t look that deep.” I hope Big Sal is staying dry.

We had an unexpected rain shower yesterday. We were at 90f/32f so it was nice and cooled everything off.

Mac Jingles, woohoo! Please post pics of your decked out fur babies, Joan.

Sweet present, ECB! I love my cast iron.

It’s good to hear you’re feeling a bit better, KZ. I have moquistos in the house. 👿 If you have carpeting, spray with Febreze and vacuum. I vacuum every other day.

Well, I better get to something on my to-do list. *sigh*

KZ, funny you should ask about the fleas. I have not had that issue yet, but I’ve been meaning to ask AV about it because the vet said in FL, my luck will run out eventually and even indoor cats will need flea treatments. I’m definitely waiting til that happens…not paying money to prevent something that I’m not convinced will happen anytime soon. Hope the treatment works quickly and effectively for you. Oh, and are you sure it was a flea? Some other creepy crawly could have wound up in your head.

Afternoon all! Nice score on the iron skillet, EB! …. keep it well seasoned and it’ll last for every (I use plain veg oil) ….. and yes, your will probably need to flea treat, I usually do it in the Spring when it starts to get warm, cause that’s when they want to come inside ….. but I don’t need to do it often, maybe once every 6 mos. or so keeps Abby flealess ……

Sal did brave the rain and came by around noon …. we had a lull in the shower (thank goodness) …. Bayshore was underwater this moroning, and I imagine will be so again when the showers fire up again this evening ….. ‘supposedly’ …. we’re in for only 40-50% chance for showers the next two days …. we’ll see ……

Natural Flea Control for Cats – Surprises and Solutions

DIY Flea & Tick Spray for Cats – Natural Flea & Tick Prevention For Cats

Diatomaceous Earth in the house is most effect however, the only safe D.E. to use is natural pulvarized or ground D.E. that can be found in plant nurseries and food storage shops. This D.E. has NOT been superheated, a process which creates fine threads of silocone glass which makes it a better filtering product, but makes it dangerous to handle or breath. Flour grade D.E. is meant to be used in graineries as a bug and egg deterrant is fine enough to mix with flour. The Regular D.E. can be spread on carpets, or the cracks between wooden floors. Plan on not vacuuming for a while(like a week) in order to allow the D.E. to cut up and dry up the little buggers, and be prepared for a little dust to be produced for a short while as you walk on it. I’ve even heard of it being used a a coat powder and mixed in feed (for horses, cats, and dogs) but I’ve never tried that personally. I sprinked it in the carpets and brushed it in with the broom and let it sit for couple of weeks, them vacuumed and reapplied.

Because nematodes are in the soil and, well, natural-I found it to be most effective. It works well in humid areas, too.

Good morning. i used to love watermelon but not so much now. However when O do eat some I know sprinkle it with a little salt as instructed by Kapitikats. Very tasty. Do cats really eat watermelon?

This next picture has always cracked me up laughing.

Love the melon catapult and the cats spitting seeds.
AV, glad you are still high and dry and isn’t Dee a sweetie for checking on you. TDKers look after each other. 😉
Awwwww Joan, your mob sound lovely in their new collars and Mac jingles too! What does he think of that?
ECb, nice to be getting a family cast iron pan. There has been a few of them being passed on since we began talking about them here.
BB, your body must have needed that sleep and good on you for listening to it.
KZ, glad you get a day to help get over the nasty virus, bronchitis is not nice and I am please to see that it is breaking up now. Look after yourself.

Hi KJ, the word play and the look on the dogs face are what had me cracking up the first time I saw that. I love word play and seeing it illustrated so well was the icing on the cake.
I am going to have to try Shadz with a bit of watermelon when the season arrives here just to see what she makes of it.
