Is you cat older or a kitten? You may have to realize he needs to be with you. I don’t know why you don’t want him to sleep with you, maybe allergies or something. The baby needs comfort and being away from you is causing him distress.

Alyssa, one of the great joys of having a cat is when they sleep on your bed! So why wouldn’t you want your kitty on the bed with you? As for meowing, I’ve had trouble with cats that meow at inappropriate times, and sometimes I’ve had to put them out of the bedroom for a while, or into another room. In that case, you can’t make the cat stop meowing. The best bet is to be sure he has access to water and just put in your ear plugs and go to sleep.

I’ve learned my kitten Lucky has different meows: for when she wants food, for when nature calls, or simply needs to go to sleep! Yes sleep! She acts just like a baby in that she needs to be cradled or have someone close before she will sleep. Then I put her in her cage just in case she has an accident, but hasn’t in a long time. I couldn’t ever avoid or ignore her cries.

Ignore the cry of I need to go potty, and you have a mess!

BTW, my pets are on a strict feeding schedule, 6am, 12noon and 6pm, a tip I was told and will pass along. You won’t get unexpected feeding cries.

Also a good tip to get them to shhhhh, between meals, feed them a treat like Pounce.

Babies just need attention is the bottom line. Play with them, love them, and you will have a well adjusted loving cat!
