Today is Coca-Cola’s birthday. Coca-Cola was first sold in bottles in Atlanta on March 12, 1894 with actual cocaine content. CC co-founder Asa Griggs Candler died on March 12, 1929.

I want Coca-Cola to bring back the original recipe LOL! As they used to say “things go better with Coke”. Then I would “get” lucky as opposed to “be” lucky (sorry the editor in me is on continual overdrive). Just kiddin’ re the cocaine, as my cohorts would confirm.

Love Coca-Cola – I’m sipping on a Cherry Coke right now! I have lots of memorabilia (was going to use 2 other words, but realized they might get flagged by the internet police!), including those 2 signs on the left of the pic JK posted, a clock that’s very old, but keeps running as long as a working battery is in it – that’s in my kitchen. I have an ice cream scooper, pail, coasters, mugs, playing cards, old bottles, at least six different kinds of glasses and lots of Christmas Coca-Cola stuff. We used to buy bottles by the case and return the empties – they don’t do that anymore around here.

Has anyone ever been the Coke musuem/showroom in Atlanta? It’s facinating ….. one of my favorite things is the ‘tasting’ room – you get to sample ‘Coke’ from different parts of the world – amazing how different the flavors are! …… some of the Asian and European ‘cokes’ don’t even taste at all like our American version!

In Europe a different sweetener is used: cane sugar, US uses corn-syrup.

That’s very true, Commune, but also, according to the Coke tour guide, different countries have different ‘tastes’, so Coke tries to cater to the more ‘popular’ flavors for the region …. i.e. some had a heavy ginger flavor, some had more of a citrus flavor….. it was truly facinating!

    #803711

its true. imagine what flavours the asian countries have, like japan. thums up tastes basically like coke, but is a bit stronger, and a bit more snap to it. same with limca, limca is like mountain dew or 7up, except its cloudier in appearance, and has a bit stronger taste. as im sure some of u know, i’m a foodie, and one of my fav things is checking out different carbonated beverages!

    Today’s fun from Odd:

    Pi Day, Potato Chip Day

?~ Today’s Quote: ”Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.” ~ Albert Einstein
    albert einstein
Albert Einstein. He was one of the greatest scientists of all time. He came up with the theory of relativity. He was born in Germany but moved to America, where he died in 1955. And yes, he rocked a wild hairdo. But what else to we know about him…
    potato chips
An Irish chef named George Crum invented potato chips in Saratoga Springs in 1853. One day, a picky customer kept sending his fried potatoes back to the kitchen, complaining that they were too thick and soggy. Crum responded by slicing the potatoes so thin that they couldn’t be eaten with a fork. The customer was so pleased with Crum’s crispy creation that they became a regular item on the restaurant’s menu
