Okay, so I don’t want to jinx it (lol) but I think Gypsy has made improvements.
Gypsy was experiencing bloody stools for weeks. She was prescribed Metro ( 5 or 7 days diarrhea antibiotic) and Panacur ( 3 days, dewormer). The bloody stools resumed a couple of days after she stopped the meds.
The vet then prescribed her more Metro (diarrhea antibiotic) for 7 days and Albon for 9 days to treat Coccidia.
Gypsy hasn’t had blood in her stools since Thursday!!! 😀 I think she must have had a nasty case of Coccidia.
Tomorrow she will be tested for FIV/FeLV and if negative she will be spayed 🙂 She will get her distemper combo vaccine too (she’s already received her rabies shot).
If she is symptom free (no more bloody stools), should I have the vet test a stool sample? I’ve got mixed feelings about it because I want to know her stool is in fact clear, but given all the meds she’s been on she’s probably fine, however I do own two other cats and Gypsy has been quarantined from them because of being sick. I don’t want my other cats to get sick IF she has something.
However! When I originally took her into the vet, they ran her fecal and it came back negative for EVERYTHING! So I could pay $$ and it could come back clear of parasites and bacteria and either be a real negative or a false negative.
